Cool. Good stuff.
Really wish I had time to work on anything at the moment.
Getting the twitches from being away from it for so long
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Oh, don't worry about it. I'm sure you are going to be very busy with your new job. ;-)
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
(Who woulda thought that moving county would've taken so much work 😀)
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
That and this 'down time' is good for getting all this pipeline stuff lined up better. I kind of envision that once this is setup properly if we trust it enough have the build auto publish extensions to Google if all the unit tests pass as well as browser tests.
Hah
It's only a what, 15 hour flight or so? No big deal. ;-)
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
23 :)
With a 1 year old and a 3.5 year old.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Yikes. I thought you'd get a bit of a break, it was 22 hours for them to get to Kansas City here in the states.
Oh my, you brave soul.
I have a 6yr and 8 month old, can't imagine that. Though we did get stuck in an airport once overnight. He enjoyed it, played like we were 'camping out'. Explored the place a bit.
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
Heh - sleeping in airports can be surprisingly fun
The flight went amazingly well, surprisingly
The boys were really good.
Though the jet lag took them about a week to get over.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Glad to hear it's going well. Speaking of sleep, I must get some sleep as well. Have a good day.

Morning @davidroberts63
Whats the latest status of the browser testing?
I see there's lots of stuff happening on the BrowserTesting branch
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Yeah, it's functioning. I need to change the test result reporting to include the version of octopus that was used. I still want to see how it handles occasional times when the VM doesn't respond quickly, to avoid false positives. I'll submit it as PR this week if you'd like to look it over.
It's not going to act exactly as I want it to, but it'll be good enough for now. It has taken longer than I anticipated, between that and family in town for the last week or so, didn't get as much done as I hoped. But I take it as a nice break.
How's your start at Octopus going?
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
Cool - will be good to see how it works and have a go at fleshing out some of the other tests.
Will be nice to have a 2.6/3.0/3.1/3.2 as well (eventually)
though that might get expensive...
the number of versions to test gets big quickly :(
especially with relatively large ui changes happening as point releases (eg dashboard)
are the individual versions running on the same box?
hows the vm created?
Octopus is going well - working on some good fun stuff
Crazy smart people :)
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Each version is on its own VM. Just 3.3 & 3.4 for now. I'll get an average cost eventually.
But right now bumping against more node async issues in the testing. If it fails the rest of the driver commands still try to execute thus causing the test result to not output. Frustrating.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
In reference to #67 . It only dawns on me now that Bluefin could be a way to port some changes to older versions.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Okay, well that was a much longer leave of absence than I anticipated.
I've got that browser testing #69 ready. @matt-richardson, if you get a chance in the next few days would you look over the ReadMe.md in the spec/browser-tests folder and let me know if it answers most of the questions. I imagine I left some basic stuff out but wanted to get something out there.
Also, I'll try to update the 3.4 vm to latest in the next day or two.
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
Cool - I'll take a look over the next few days.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
I know it's Sunday for you, but how's it going at Octopus? Keeping you busy?
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
Octopus is going v well. Doing some exciting stuff - .net core migration and docker.
Some v cool stuff in the pipeline.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
O.O sounds awesome.
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
Best place to work I've ever come across.
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
Gah! Ugh. The browser testing is gonna slow down a lot.
Azure's a bit 'too' easy for me to use. ;-)
Matt Richardson
@matt-richardson
You got the azure bill?
David Roberts
@davidroberts63
How'd you guess? :-)
I mean man. I didn't even think about the 1TB premium ssd storage cost.
