Most seem to be firing "I want to contribute, please guide me" and waiting.
what is actually one of the worst ways to start
Aditya_Santhosh
@AdityaSanthosh
@mloskot yes, i know i shouldn't ask for step by step procedure. But few months ago, i tried to set up dev environment. it was a pain as a beginner. but now i learnt a lot setting up boost using VS and vcpkg
Mateusz Łoskot
@mloskot
Well, then be specific: show what you are doing, what errors you are getting, ask specific questions that will lead to solving the specific problem at hand
Aditya_Santhosh
@AdityaSanthosh
okay. Thanks i will only engage in g
meaningful discussions

Even if you don't want to participate in GSoC and you are having problems with setting up env for Boost contributions,
there are Boost mailing lists, there are Boost channels on IRC and cpplang.slack.com
there is StackOverflow
there are ways to look for help
Aditya_Santhosh
@AdityaSanthosh
Thanks for resources. right now, i got that part right. I will also focus on processing techniques.

For GSoC, regardless of which Boost library one aims to work for, here are excellent pieces of advice Cem Bassoy posted to Boost.UBLAS Gitter

Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on #483. I had doubt regarding what all headers constitutes boost.MPL.
I have tried searching docs.
Please point to me where I can find out about this.
Cypre55
@Cypre55
I have found only two locations where #include <boost/mp11/mpl.hpp> is present
Mateusz Łoskot
@mloskot
Boost MPL are #boost <boost/mpl/*
Boost-wide convention is #include <boost/<library>/*
Cypre55
@Cypre55
Thanks
I have put out a PR #543 for the same
Cypre55
@Cypre55
I have created a new PR #551 which is up to date with develop branch.
I have a doubt regarding how I should have actually gone about doing it.
One Idea is to work on a new branch of my own and pulling any updates onto the develop branch. Then merge the branches and create a PR.
What I have done this time was, resetting HEAD (as not much change has been made) then force pushing into to my fork so the origin is also reset.
Then I added the boostorg/gil 's develop as a new remote and pulled the changes, pushed it to my fork, made the changes and committed to my develop branch and finally made the PR.
Cypre55
@Cypre55
Sorry if it is a noob question and thanks in advance.

@Cypre55 Web searceh for "how to update pull request" should give decent explanation

https://github.com/boostorg/gil/blob/develop/CONTRIBUTING.md#pull-requests

DO address PR feedback in an additional commit(s) rather than amending the existing commits. This makes it easier for reviewers to track changes.
DO sync your PR branch with the upstream develop branch frequently resolving any conflicts if necessary. You can either git merge upstream/develop or git rebase upstream/develop with git push --force for the latter. The merge may make it easier for reviewers to track changes though.

Hey, My name is Rohit. I'd like to work on the gil libraries and am also hoping to make a gsoc proposal. I figured I'll try and look into an issue to get an idea of the contribution conventions and the source code? Also, does the slack workspace require an invitation?

Hello all, I am Shady, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering, and I want to participate in the Google Summer of Code Boost Organization, so I need some suggestions about how I begin and what is the issue and buggs that i will begin with it to solve it?
I am very interested in participating in google summer of code
I have working and practical experience working in C,C++, Python, dart,matlab,prolog, etc. with knowledge of mathematical concepts like Linear Algebra, discrete math , . etc. I am interested in contributing to Boost and apply for GSoC. Will be highly grateful for guidance on beginning processes in contributing to Boost. (very thanks)

@shadymohamedamin Search the web, read archives of this channel, mailing lists. Surely, you can't be the only one who asked such questions lately
