@jamonholmgren Sorry for the delay. If you are both running the same version of Brunch on the same codebase with the same config, then I guess it could be different versions of some of the unlying packages used by plugins (like Babel or things like that) or something environmental. Are you on the same OS? I know in the past there have been some bugs around Windows support, but in 2.8.2 those should be mostly gone. It would be interesting to see what the diff of the two output files are to see where the differences are.
@bkuri I don't know off the top of my head, but @goshakkk might.
Does it matter if the event is emitted if just running a brunch build

@colinbate that might just work... What do you have in mind?

I guess I was wondering which condition you were interested in, the --server part or the watch part. I originally thought you might want to know if Brunch had launched a server in addition to watching the files (it might be the built in server or another custom server, not sure if that matters either). But the name of your variable suggested you may only be interested in whether Brunch was watching versus a single one-off build.
And I guess my question after all of that (given that I really don't know what you are doing): would it matter if the event were emitted all the time?

@colinbate the plugin compiles marko templates into html. It needs to emit a "file changed" event in order for hot code reloading to work on the client. I only need to emit that event when brunch is watching the folder for changes; otherwise it's just redundant to fire it every time.
Hope that clears it up. 👍
