Hello! It seems like I can't change the material in mandelbuler, I'm on windows and whatever I do, even tho the material preview changes, the fractal is always rendered with the same material

42@Bux42 I think it's because you have enabled OpenCL and so far only the default material is available. Go back to CPU rendereing and yoiu can have all the materials you want, but rendering is quite a bit slower. The Mandelbulber users are being patient about this because it's going to be a brilliant implementation of OpenCL.

we're basically trying to find a way to turn a block out of a blockchain (cryptocurrency) into an IFS representation
i created a few different sets of parameters
those are some examples
and that is how it's generated
but, automation is the difficult part

Why do you want to connect IFS fractals with blockchain? I don't understand the idea.

The idea is to create a unique visualization for each block.
Just as a cool art project.
Each block hash defines some features of fractal, each transaction defines a light.
And octahedral IFS creates the most "block-like" features, so that seemed the most natural choice
as well as having lots of customization

In general I don't like blockchain. It uses too much resources (one transaction uses energy comparable with usage of one house during one day) so is very against my ecologic thinking. Second thing is bad way how bitcoins are used (mostly crime)

@Starmute I see the point in having an "appealing" 2d-image representation of a block. But i dont see why they would need our help for that: Mandelbulber is already free to use.
They could make a settings file with wildcards and render this file by mandelbulber with replaced (by block hash) parameters in a script.
