In general I don't like blockchain. It uses too much resources (one transaction uses energy comparable with usage of one house during one day) so is very against my ecologic thinking. Second thing is bad way how bitcoins are used (mostly crime)
Starmute
@Starmute
monero (the cryptocurrency that wants to help out mandelbulber) is ASIC-resistant, so it uses lots less energy
Starmute
@Starmute
and it's not true that they are used mostly for crime
Starmute
@Starmute
@buddhi1980 can you contact rehrar@tuta.io?
Starmute
@Starmute
@buddhi1980, are you okay with us donating to/helping out with mandelbulber development even if you don't like blockchain?
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
@Starmute I see the point in having an "appealing" 2d-image representation of a block. But i dont see why they would need our help for that: Mandelbulber is already free to use.
They could make a settings file with wildcards and render this file by mandelbulber with replaced (by block hash) parameters in a script.
Starmute
@Starmute
@zebastian we are actually doing that now!
regardless, we will make a donation to support the project
Krzysztof Marczak
@buddhi1980
We are not a foundation, so it's quite difficult to manage donations for the project
Starmute
@Starmute
is there any way to set position in a .fract file while keeping the target and roll angle constant?
Krzysztof Marczak
@buddhi1980
Yes, there is a way. If you want to keep the camera with 0 roll angle, you have to keep the camera in correct orientation by setting camera_top 0 0 1;
camera_rotation parameter you can ignore, because will be recalculated
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
Btw when you are scripting the settings file you may use the scripting thing of mandelbulber: https://github.com/buddhi1980/mandelbulber2/tree/master/mandelbulber2/deploy/share/mandelbulber2/scripts
Krzysztof Marczak
@buddhi1980
Wow! I didn't know that you have wrote such a scrips. Nice code!
Starmute
@Starmute
Ah very nice!
Here’s our work so far. Let me see if I can apply some of this. :D
TasMania17
@TasMania17
@Starmute that looks interesting. I'm wondering if the fractals are representations of parts of a blockchain but not the blockchain itself then could not the fractals take any form at all?
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
@buddhi1980 thanks, almost forgot about it.
I think there was a big patch series at the time I committed the script thing, so it went quite unnoticed and hadn't any use for it at that time either
Anyway, if you want to use it and have questions with PHP, just let me know.
😀

@Bux42
There should be a twitch channel for mandelbulber rendering 24/7 where the viewers can share their computing power to make the render faster
Starmute
@Starmute
basically a rendering pool?
42
@Bux42
Yeah but broadcast
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
@
Starmute
@Starmute
?
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
@Bux42 that would be interesting.
Also a user voted platform for selecting the settings to render would be cool.
42
@Bux42
Yah
And would make some renders possible
Like those renders with high settings and details, those that we haven't seen because it would take years to render
We'd be able to see those
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
hey @Starmute, i spiced your settings generator up.
Check PR here: Starmute/Stellumo#3
Starmute
@Starmute
my gosh @zebastian, it's like christmas day!
strange that the fog seems 'stronger' now
i will see if i can reduce that (as i quite like the infinite mirrors effect)
Starmute
@Starmute
@zebastian hmm... i am getting strange results on my version of mandelbulber (latest mac version available)
everything is blurred
Starmute
@Starmute

Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
That was
Starmute
@Starmute
the results seem a bit different
1st is mine, second is your version
1273007.png
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
Intentional, I added dof and stronger fog, so the focus is on the one object in the center.
Starmute
@Starmute
no, i mean that there are differences
with my version there is not anything that isn't blurred
it just looks out of focus
Sebastian Jennen
@zebastian
Hmm,
Starmute
@Starmute
did anything change with DOF from latest mac version to latest version?
