@Starmute I see the point in having an "appealing" 2d-image representation of a block. But i dont see why they would need our help for that: Mandelbulber is already free to use. They could make a settings file with wildcards and render this file by mandelbulber with replaced (by block hash) parameters in a script.

Yes, there is a way. If you want to keep the camera with 0 roll angle, you have to keep the camera in correct orientation by setting camera_top 0 0 1;
camera_rotation parameter you can ignore, because will be recalculated
