Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
But I'm not sure this is implemented this way...
maybe they build a dependency graph of dependencies, and generate the right code...
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
The graph seems more simple
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
It seems to have its own GUI.
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
It has some time that I tested it klange/toaruos#104
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
interesting.
I'll take a look soon =)
Does it has advantage over linux ?
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
I am afraid it hasn't any advantage. It's a toy kernel.
Joana... Nice... What do you know about jehanne?
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
close to nothing =)
just see this on plan9 mailing list
I'm reading about now
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
well, I don't know this guy, but he's like us
unskilled in osdev, but working hard to create something better
I'll definitely try Johanne
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
Nice. Me too.
Well,
But think of /bin: when UNIX was born most programs were binaries, but now? We have plenty of scripts there! Thus, in Jehanne, all programs are in /cmd.
Why not /run?
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
this is just naming
/run have other semantics on unix (at least)
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
I know. For me run is better. :smile:
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
but I like /bin ...
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
But it is not Unix.
Not even plan 9
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
yeah, just naming.
with namespaces you can really call it what you want
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
Indeed
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
Not lucky with jehanne... last word printed on qemu: ipconfig...connect...
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
:(
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
same problem here. Several boot err msgs, and halt/freeze in the ipconfig message.
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
Not ready for releasing yet.
Tiago Natel de Moura
@tiago4orion
yeah, but theoretically it was not released yet
sounds promising, but early stage..
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
I see.
Geyslan Gregório Bem
@geyslan
@tiago4orion Seems nice. I'll read it soon.

Hey Guys , I have created a room for questions related to fundamentals of OS theory and booting . I had some confusions regarding partitions so created this room where experienced fellas can help out people having troubles in understanding
This is the link
Please join in ..so that we can start

Is this room still alive?

wakko
@octaviousrex

Is this room still alive?

probably not, considering that the last two posts before us were from the beginning of 2017, and the end of 2018 (so essentialy two years between posts)
