@blacksheep1970
Hi folks. I tried cakemanager (following exactly the docu) and everything went smoothly. But when calling the login page there is no LoginController. Do I have to create one by myself? Checking the sources on github I see that there is no one in the package.
blacksheep1970
@blacksheep1970
argh documentation error on http://cakemanager.org/docs/cakeadmin/1.0/installation/! "You are ready to login at yourwebsite.com/login!" should be "You are ready to login at yourwebsite.com/admin!"
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
Thank You for noticing @blacksheep1970. I couldn't response because my unic
University didn't allow me on internet. I'll fix it asap!

@diuliano0
how use cakeadmin with acl?
blacksheep1970
@blacksheep1970
I guess it is in process. The table groups is implemented but in the current release you can only define admins
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
@diuliano0 We don't have plans to implement ACL. However, in future we will introduce roles to work with inside CakeAdmin.

Jacintoo
@jacintoo
Hello
Is there possible ways to overwrite the dashboard template: index.ctp?
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
Hi @jacintoo! This is possible by using the following file (I guess): src/Template/CakeAdmin/Dashboard/index.ctp. I'm awake for 5 mins now so correct me if I'm wrong :p
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
Hey @jacintoo, is your question answered?
Marco

rifats
@rifats
@bobmulder, hello. I tried to overite dashboard template, as you advised (src/Template/CakeAdmin/Dashboard/index.ctp). This does not work. Or did you mean vendor folder? Thanks.
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
@rifats gonna check it out for you now
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
@rifats I can't get out of it. Probably @leoruhland can help because he made the Lightstrap plugin?
d4rksid3rs
@d4rksid3rs
@bobmulder hello Bob, do you intend build acl GUI for cakeadmin?
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
Hey @d4rksid3rs, that sounds as an awesome idea. I've experimented with it before with Cake2. Please get in touch with me if you want to work this out together (because I don't have that much time)
d4rksid3rs
@d4rksid3rs
@bobmulder sr Bob, I just want to use ACL with GUI in my app. I'm an end user. So I cant to work with you :)
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
Ah so you're not a programmer @d4rksid3rs? In that case I can't help you that quick because all work has to be done for free... If you are able to gather some enthousiastic people we could take a look ;)
d4rksid3rs
@d4rksid3rs

newbie try cakeadmin and like much! you genius! but users table confuse me. key int auto expecting char(36) but no matter .... can it work with cakedc/users? or maybe newbie (me) best not attempt such things?
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder

Hi @dogsnotgods_twitter! Thank you for your message. I agree with the confusing part of the users table. I've spoken with @leoruhland and decided to work this out again. In the past I decided to put administrators in the users table because of the following reason: I had models which used user-id's automatically (to see who changed the entity e.g). So to prevent double id's (what if there is an administrator with id 1 and an user with id 1) I decided to save them both in one table. However I've changed my mind in the last months. I discovered that models should know nothing about sessions so they (and behaviors) should not be able to add user id's automatically. With that in mind it should become possible to seperate adminstrators from your users (CakeAdmin does noting with your users so you're free to choose your user-system).

TL;DR: Administrators should be seperated from users, we are working on it ;)

If you want to contribute, please contact me privately via Gitter ;)

actually is was cakemanager-cakephp-users i was trying to make work with cakephp-admin. cakedc/users was first attempt. cakephp-users just wont run in project with cakephp-admin. seems to use default-users code instead. but i just newbie so dont take my word for it! very much appreciate response and i hope to contribute much in future. i been programming since punch card days so perhaps i can use my experience just as soon as i get head around cakephp structures
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
In fact CakeAdmin works with all plugins. You should register the Users table (of CakeDC or CakeAdmin) as PostType and there you go...

hey bob, just an FYI. i come from asp.net mvc5 environment and new to apache. i seek a RAD framework for my local development environment (win7-wamp64-netbeans8). my plan was to create a multi-tenant app and cakephp3 looked like a good place to start. i hoped to hack my user data app (crud) app into cakecms, cakeadmin, cakeusers. i was unsuccessful as i am unaware of cakephp inner workings. no matter how i created projects (composer or netbeans cakephp3 new project plugin) . i got stuck on cakecms-cms_tables-not-created, cakeuser-migration-user-table-breaks-cakeadmin(missing-fields). i not smart enough to "PostType" or re-run migrations just yet. in meantime, i am back to day job. next stop e107 perhaps (if and when i get time again!)
Bob Mulder
@bobmulder
Am I right that you try to use the cakeadmin-cms plugin @dogsnotgods_twitter? As the plugin mentions, its just a draft, and does not have a stable release...

@dogsnotgods_twitter
its all good Bob. no worries. just thought to update you with my limited info. i did think it all went together install wise with bugs down the line but again i am new so i don't know. i thought perhaps i just not install in proper order or missed some instruction somewhere. i liked the admin so much it made me want more! anyway my day job just went nuts so be a while before i go looking for trouble again! for what its worth : adding admin to a project worked great (turnkey) but adding users and/or cms not as friendly as an (unstable) newbie like me was looking for. PS. this cakephp3 stuff is awesome. well done to the team involved. i will learn more soon.
