yes
"DB_PASS": "hu8jmn3",
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
I think it's working :) only thing is that it is running at 127.0.0.1:8000 - but I'm on a virtual machine
the Voseq folder did not have to be in /var/www/html folder right?
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
no
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
so it should be hosting a web server at the normal IP address?
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
you need to configure you webserver to start serving VoSeq's files
that make serve command is using a server only for testing
and development
for real (production) instalations you need to configure Apache
or Nginx web servers
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
ah I see, I've used Apache before
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
for Apache + Django these instructions might help you https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.8/howto/deployment/wsgi/modwsgi/
VoSeq is based on Django
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
I should be able to figure that out
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
VoSeq comes with its own little server software, that runs at 127.0.0.1:8000 but is meant to be used for testing or development
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
ah I understand
I think I got some ways to go forward from here
Many thanks for your help :)
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
now that you have tried my instructions on installing VoSeq, maybe you can do a pull request with clarifications and things that I missed ? :smile:
no probs
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
hah, I'll give it a shot!
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
:+1:
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
are you here?
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
yes
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
I think that the vagrant package does not include a apache/gunicorn web server?
hi btw :)
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
hi
not yet
it is possible to add it
so far I got postgreSQL working
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
nice
it is not that easy to install gunicorn or apache (if you don't know what you're doing). many of the tutorials say that there are many ways to do it, and the right way depends on your django project
most tutorials also say that you need a wsgi.py file to direct the server to, but that's not in the voseq package right? so I have to make one somehow?
Carlos Peña
@carlosp420
the wsgi.py is there
in the folder VoSeq/voseq/voseq
cdoorenweerd
@cdoorenweerd
ah! ok thank you :) then I can try from there!
