Max Stoiber
@mxstbr
@lithin same thing for me :grin:
No idea where that error comes from I'm afraid though
Anna Doubkova
@lithin
Hahaha
Where do we actually load/call the plugin?
Max Stoiber
@mxstbr
Oooh
I know the problem
You changed the function playground(some, stuff, here) { return (<PlaygroundList />) } to a class?
Yeah that won't work, that has to be a function
What you can do is have that stay a function and add a separate container, maybe called something like <ReactPlugin />
And that's what you return from that function

Where do we actually load/call the plugin?

If you really want to know I can walk you through it on a screenshare, but it's actually more complex than just "call the plugin". We partially apply the function you give us with some data from the backend, and then call the resulting, partially applied function with some more data from the frontend

Anna Doubkova
@lithin
haha wow that does sound complex!
cool I'll create a wrapper - might actually be also cleaner so it's a great idea :)
thanks!
Max Stoiber
@mxstbr
@lithin yeah, it is, but kind of the whole point of Carte Blanche is that we provide that "plug" between the two parts :grin:
No worries! How's life in London?
Anna Doubkova
@lithin
makes sense :D
life in London is really busy! I just started teaching our new interns Redux and serverless architecture - I never realised how exhausting teaching is :)
Max Stoiber
@mxstbr
That sounds really exhausting haha!
So much to learn there :grin:
Anna Doubkova
@lithin
fortunately they are super smart so it's not too difficult :)
how's life in Vienna? - that is if you're even there, seems like you're conferencing a lot :D
Nik Graf
@nikgraf
hehe, I tend to feel Max just wants to travel a lot and Conferences are an nice way to get cheap flights :)
seems to work out well :smile:

Hey, trying to get carte-blanche running. I've got it starting up, and listing my components correctly. But trying to open a Component, just shows a blank modal, with this error in the console:
index.js?661a:302 Generating metadata failed Error: getNodeFromInstance: Invalid argument.
    at invariant (http://localhost:3000/carte-blanche:8782:16)
    at Object.getNodeFromInstance (http://localhost:3000/carte-blanche:12233:46)
    at Object.findDOMNode (http://localhost:3000/carte-blanche:28950:42)
    ...
Max Stoiber
@mxstbr
@lithin life is awesome, though I haven't really been in Vienna for a while – mostly just done long layovers haha
Anna Doubkova
@lithin
@mxstbr hope you're well :) I've been trying to push my latest redux changes into carte blanche repo so other could work on it as well but I'm not authorised
ERROR: Permission to carteb/carte-blanche.git denied to lithin.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.
Max Stoiber
@mxstbr
Damn, I swear we added you! Let me double check @lithin
Gave you write access @lithin, let me know if that worked!
Anna Doubkova
@lithin
It works, thanks! :)

Hello guys! Have been playing last week in trying to move carte blanche prototype for angular2 and its looking nice..altough some pieces can still be improved.
leaving here a video. Now I am rendering components, editing custom metadata, saving and deleting variations. I still have to support more control types. Angular2 has changed already the way components are rendered about 3 times the last month so there was a lot of refactoring involved..I will try and get something more solid next week and during the weekend..but I think in the end this plays well with the way angular2 works currently and where its heading
I am still in Vienna, but with a very young daughter my time for meetups and stuff is pretty limitted so havent managed to go to a react meetup and talk with you guys, but I will try to since actually at work I am doing some react now :P The issue is open on github and the repo in my github account let me know questions and feedback!
Nik Graf
@nikgraf
man this is great
I hope I get back to carte blanche over the next few weeks
been super busy with work and draft-js-plugins so far
Joao Garin
@joaogarin
yeah no problem. i mean..angular2 is still in a constant rumble.there has been a lot of breaking changes until yesteday that finally a stable release was announced, so its still an OK timing. I have also had a lot to do since I only stay in viena until mid October then I am moving back to Lisbon, so got a lot of packing and stuff to do this last month but I will work remote for a company in Vienna so I will be coming often I hope to be able to keep attending some meetups and stuff. But no hurry we can keep chating on this and I will try to keep you guys posted on the progress of it

anybody using cb on a project with material-ui? it uses context to get at styling, and I wonder how to make that work with cb…
Nik Graf
@nikgraf
@wmertens ahhh
yeah, that’s a problem we haven’t tried so solve yet
there could a an option to inject a wrapper component
Wout Mertens
@wmertens
@nikgraf ok, so at one point I had a more-or-less working cb in this project, then I upgraded a bunch of things and added new code, and now I'm hitting this white screen with the console error of Generating metadata failed
it seems that velocity is crashing on the component somehow, but even when I remove velocity, nothing works
Wout Mertens
@wmertens
the screen is the modal for the metadata editing
Wout Mertens
@wmertens
the cb-react-plugin comes with its own react that is used for everything, right?

Just starting to look at carte-blanche. Can someone tell me if it could be used to generate a living style guide for non-react components? For instance, skatejs, x-tag, or polymer web components?
Joao Garin
@joaogarin
Hello guys, any plans on picking up carte-blanche again? I would love to also continue my angular development for it now that angular is getting more stable. it would probably need a big refactor and use webpack 2 that I for some reason cant get working with carte-blanche
