yeah getting the real data displayed using griddle on the reports page first of all
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 11:17
what’s the thinking behind having all the routes as methods of a prototype?
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 11:18
oh the routes just use controller methods, they're just handlers
so basically
our models are all constructors, and so is the controller
we can 'make' a model/controller by calling the function with certain config parameters from the top level
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 11:19
how it work pretty much makes sense but I think having it bind(ctrlr) for each route threw me a little
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 11:19
haha it threw me when i forgot to put bind in and none of it worked
it makes testing much easier and also it was an opportunity to work with prototypes which havent really done
so if you have a look in the approvedlist tests (a bit outdated)
all we need to do is require the file, then construct an instance with our own selected config data, from a testconfig or w/e
the tests for some of the files should be quite descriptive, at least the utils ones
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 11:23
right I see
were you planning on working on the griddle stuff too or was that description earlier more for our benefit?
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 11:30
im not working on griddle at the moment, but was thinking about it later. currently im working on other parts of the report page so that laniabecca can select which reports to view
so basically im trying to figure out how to get the data into the page initially
but im not touching the table yet
so if you want to give the table stuff a doing over, be my guest
i'll keep you updated with how getting data into the page is going
also ill have a look at how we can speed up the transfer, im not sure sending all the data at once is the best move
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 11:36
alright i’ll carry on griddling
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 12:34
ok im pretty baffled about how to get the data into the react components
will it have to make an ajax request to api/v1/blah?
i guess that would be if we were client side rendering react
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 12:39
yeah will be ajax
i required superagent already
i mean npmed it
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 12:39
ok good at least im the right track
i’ll check out superagent too then
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY

James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 13:04
wrt the table, just hardcode 2015_01, and approved/unapproved/customid etc, we can get that data from other react components
takin a break i got a headache
hardcode the ajax call url i mean
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 13:05
yeah have done
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 13:05
cool, i really think the loading takes too long
its like 50s
but it is a huge amount of data
and by huge i mean not an amazing
Rory

Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 19:57
still having problems, think its cos of all the extra settings that need to be specified when using external data
i’ve pushed what little i’ve done to development-test, will do some more when I’m at home in a bit
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 20:01

Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 21:03

James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 21:30
ok ive refactored some of the report stuff, will toy around with griddle then we can have a speak tomorrow about where to go
if im feeling bold i may try to deploy tonight
doubt it tho
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 23:12

James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 23:19
ah its working the settings were defaulting to all off
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 22 2015 23:20
so which did you change?
I tried including pretty much all the ones it has in the example and still no luck
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 23:31
ill push mine up to views and you can have a look, its a bit messy but w/e
did a lot of refactoring on the backend so wanted to get something running to see that it works, havent pulled yours yet
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 22 2015 23:39
think ive done it slightly wrong in hindsight
but w/e we go over it tomorrow
weird shit going on with downloading the report on the admin page
you get a response with the csv but it doesnt auto download
it just sits there to be observed in the network panel
oh yeah if you're bored of react, the 'admin approve report' route is up
so we can get mailgun involved there for sending the message off
