@cbucher the beta is looking kewl, what did you think about my idea to fiverr the icons and a flashy new consoleZ logo? I'm happy to help contribute?
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher
@BlazenBundy_twitter I am always happy to receive a contribution. Do not ask my permission to help ^^
But there are conditions:
  • icons must please me
  • their license must be compatible with GPLv2.
Bundy Buchan
@BlazenBundy_twitter
@cbucher In that event what size images will cater for all requirements?
Bundy Buchan
@BlazenBundy_twitter
@cbucher and what image file types?
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher

Resources are located in /Console/res folder.
https://github.com/cbucher/console/tree/master/Console/res
Icons are located in: fullscreen1xxx.bmp, fullscreen2xxx.bmp, searchxxx.bmp and toolbarxxx.bmp.
xxx indicates the size of icons. Sizes are 16x16, 20x20, 32x32, 40x40, 48x48, 64x64, 80x80.
128x128 is currently unused but my tip: generate icons in 128x128 or 256x256 and then generates other sizes by shrinking from the high size.

You cannot directly create a bmp file with transparency. Create png files and then you can use AlphaConv by Adam Najmanowicz - A 32bit image converter (PNG, BMP & TGA).

@cbucher I have invested $42USD to engage a designer to come up with some custom icons. Hopefully you will like them if not I have unlimited revisions so we can work through them but I feel good about donating this towards the application that you have supplied the world. Cheers Bundy. Will be in touch soonish as the details start to get fleshed out.

It seems like when my computer crashes (and I have to do a resulting hard shut down), the next time I try to open ConsoleZ, a window just briefly opens and closes immediately after. Has anyone ran into this issue?

After 8 months, I think I've tracked down what it was. I think it has to do with the interaction between Console2/Z and my git bash. This SO answer sums up the issue I was seeing, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18502999/git-extensions-win32-error-487-couldnt-reserve-space-for-cygwins-heap-win32/31970708#31970708. TLDR: Cygwin tried to load DLL into a fixed address that was already used. Returns error.

Hello
Where in windows registry settings about tabs is stored? I have made a mistake when entering default sheall and there is a problem with starting consoleZ.
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher
@sebastianlasaj Last versions launch a failover console when configured shell cannot start. Can you describe your configuration mistake (to improve ConsoleZ)?

I can use start . to open a folder in explorer, is there some way to do it via ConsoleZ (start . doesn't work in all shells)?
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher
@Lunatrius Simply launch explorer.exe with folder in parameter.
Jadran Kotnik
@Lunatrius
start . works better than explorer, but none of them is available in some shells
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher

works better

!?! start is a CMD internal command that will call explorer.exe...

is there a way to fix arrow keys in windows 10 bash running through consolez
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher
People, if you really want this bug be fixed you should massively ask about progress here: Microsoft/BashOnWindows#111
Jadran Kotnik
@Lunatrius
Both will open the same directory, however explorer . will open it as an absolute path while start . will open it as a relative path to the desktop

Just loaded ConsoleZ on Windows 10, have extensive tab configuration and used a lot on Windows 7, but on Windows 10 the resizing of the consoleZ windows is not reflected in Bash. If I start a normal CMD window and then launch c:\cygwin\cygwin.bat and then resize the console window, bash sees the changes, but not from within ConsoleZ. Is there a workaround? This worked fine on Windows 7. I just downloaded and installed the 1.17.2 version but it does the same thing.

It seems Visual Studio Code will use winpty as workaround.
Microsoft has not planned to fix this bug because too few people has complained and some applications wrote workaround.
If you want Microsoft developers change their mind, show them you care about this bug!

I don't know if workarounds are 100% functional...

InnitialCommand is an awkward name. Should've been ShellArguments/Arguments given what it's actually used for
Other than that, workspaces work great.
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher

@Lunatrius I think you're right.
"Initial command" can be found everywhere in code and documentation (-r command line argument). This parameter is simply concatenated to the shell command line.
It can be used to pass

  • an initial command
    console -t cmd -r "dir /b"
    where shell (in cmd tab settings) is cmd.exe /K
  • or arguments
    console -t cmd -r "/K """dir /b""""
    where shell (in cmd tab settings) is cmd.exe

Previous author probably designed the feature thinking to the first case.
It implies replacing "initial command" in code, documentation and workspace XML schema.

Jadran Kotnik
@Lunatrius
Oh, I see. So it's a legacy thing. It was just a random thought while I was looking at the XML structure of the workspace file.
Christophe Bucher
@cbucher
I started to replace "initial command" occurrences.
