Hi all.

I already have a working motion install including motion.conf (and camera conf files). motionEye seems to be ignoring my existing motion.conf (even after changing conf dir to /etc/motion where motion.conf and conf.d/camera?.conf files exist).

Can motionEye using existing motion.conf files?

Hello everyone. I have more than one motioneyeos on pi zero(s) and I want to show/hide each one from another (pi3) - I am wracking my brains how to do this. I tried selenium but it 'hangs' on the connection to the first motioneye, unable to move to another url

this is for an exhibition and I am really getting desperate! Please help.

i get just blank picture on the camera no matter what device i use, how should i debug the cam? i dont know if it should work or not, and before i use a raspbian i thought i can debug with motioneyeos

Hi @ccrisan . I found out a bug trying to add my HiKam S6 Camera. It uses rtsp and i was not able to add it. i always got the error "timeout connecting to rtsp netcam". I looked through ur sourcecode and found out, that the connect uses the parameter MJPG_CLIENT_TIMEOUT in motioneye config file. In my case it was set to 0. but zero means in this case really 0, i changed it to 10 and now everything works as expected. Took me half a day ;) Was thinking of my ubuntu, motion or network is making me mad. But nvertheless, thanks so much for motioneye. I love it.

Hey all! I'm using an IP cam that has a built in mic with motionEye and was curious if using 'movie_passthrough on' allows me to somehow capture audio as well? When I examine the Media Info and play the rtsp stream (that I'm using in MotionEye) in VLC player, I can see that there is a 'Stream 0' that is H264 MPEG-4 AVC, and a 'Stream 1' that is PCM ALAW audio, and of course, the video and audio works fine in VLC. Is MotionEye just passing through the Stream 1 of the RTSP stream with 'movie_passthrough on'? And as a background, I've read as much as I can find on the docs and github issues surrounding the unsupported nature of audio with MotionEye, and I realize this is not something MotionEye does... I'm just curious whether or not the 'passthrough stream' of my cam has this ability.

Hi all, I am using a hikvison ip camera with motioneye, rtsp link streaming in h265+ @ 1080p. I notice gaps on the streaming. Does motion re-encode the streaming? I dont see such a gaps when seeing on VLC directly! camera configuration on motioned is HEVC, 1920x1080

@mvcorrea are you looking in the overall UI or on the "stream link" that Motioneye exposes on 8081? also, how large are the gaps?

motion does do its own re-encoding in certain circumstances IIRC

Good afternoon. I am using motioneye standalone on a raspberry pi and have a couple of cameras hooked up. Two of them have microphones and motioneye motion detection has an option to detect noise. I want to turn this of for one of them, because it is indoors and I don’t want a 100 e-mails per minute when we are in the same room talking :) how do I manage this?

There is an “auto noise detection” option, which I can turn off and it then reveals a threshold slider which goes from 0% to 25%. I have it set to 25%, so that it needs a lot of noise before it sends of an email, but I really don’t want it to detect any noise.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you :)

As I remember auto noise detection is about the image, not the audio. I can be wrong, so prove me wrong if you can 😆

I hope, I installed everything necessary to be able to use hw decoding on RPi4. As I am not using this setup, I can not test it.

The tools for setting up the necessary keys to enable HW decoding, which are part of the rpi-firmware tools. And the necessary binary libraries for HW decoding. I am not sure, whether the ffmpeg libraries are able to find those libraries from the firmware but I installed them in the standard place.

in RPI3 I saw that ffmpeg used OpenMAX lib to use hw decoding

HW decoding also depends whether you bought the keys for enabling MPG HW decoding. Those keys then need to be configured in the underlying host system in the /boot/config.txt.

The Docker image then only contains the tools to be able to check, whether the hardware decoding got enable with the correct keys.

H.264 can be decoded in HW without necessary license keys.

AFAIK only RPi4 is able to decode H.265 in hardware. And I don't know, with what Pi version they added H.264 hardware decoding.

Disregard ,Chrome + F12, capture network activity, click snapshot button on the ui, search for snapshot gave me what I needed.

Hi all! On the main MotionEye page- the page that shows all of the cameras at once- are those camera images sent to the browser in full resolution (i.e. 1080p) and then the CSS shrinks the images? Or does the Javascript on that page request images from the MotionEye server at a different resolution than normal? The reason I ask is this. I am trying to have MotionEye do text overlays on the images. If I make the text overlays big enough to see on that main page, then when I view the cameras in full resolution, the text is jagged and ugly. I am trying to convince the Motion developers to add TrueType support to their text overlays so that this doesn't occur.

Hi there,
Just getting started with MotionEye and am trying to add an rstp camera however I'm getting "protocol rstp not supported" when trying to add a network camera with the RSTP address.
I am running MotionEye in Docker
motionEye Version 0.42
Motion Version 4.2.2

Can anyone give me some guidance as to how I can get this working or what I need to do?

Hi a newbie question.

I've configured so that it sends a slack notification when motion detected. It will basically take the last image from the folder.

I've tried playing around with the settings currently set

Motion gap = 20 s
Captured Before = 10 frames
Captured After = 10 frames
Min motion frames = 20 frames

But what happens is that the last image is usually shot too late. Do u have any recommended setting for this scenario?

Also what is the difference between "Run A Command" vs "Run An End Command"?
