@vishwas78 @rushbah123453 @sakshambassi If you are looking to participate on GSoC, you should start thinking about writing up a proposal on a topic of your interest. The timeline for submissions are listed here: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline The team will review and accept a proposal that fits the project and you can then contribute as part of GSoC. The topics currently listed are some ideas but i think, its too high level. I suggest you look at the current state of development on github: https://github.com/census-instrumentation

Note that GSoC runs for 10-12 weeks. you need to pick something that is small enough to be completed in this period.

@rushbah123453 you can choose to work on any topic you like. Make sure your proposals are clear on the goals. Include any designs or breakdown of the project into milestones/tasks. The review team will select projects based on priority, relevance, feasibility, impact to the OpenCensus and which projects show clarity on deliverables.
We are also looking for folks who can cookup examples to showcase application of OpenCensus in various scenarios.. for example, have a look at this blog post by Emmanuel(@odeke-em): https://medium.com/@odeke_et/3636820d98c8 .We will accept a proposal that is as simple as creating a similar blog post showcasing 3rdparty integrations with OpenCensus
@apherio we started with jekyll ..but decided to move to hugo as we have a great Go fanbase in-house. besides most of the jekyll themes are also supported on hugo. We felt it might be easy to maintain. Plus whats not to like in Go ;-) ...am sure @jbd can add more.. or you can look up hugo features here: https://gohugo.io/

@MikaelMello more than experience, we are looking for what you can deliver. I listed some topics we need contributions around. Since this is a 3month engagement your projects need to be small enough so it can be completed before the evaluation date. This also means you cannot take on something thats more complex and long-term projects.. creating core libraries from scratch falls into that bucket...unless you can show that you already made some progress.
Student Proposals
Student Proposal Submission period: March 12-27
Starting next week students will be able to submit their proposals via the program website. Each student may submit up to 3 proposals to the program. This is a change from last year when we allowed 5 proposals. They can submit multiple proposals to the same organization for different projects if they wish.
Historically, the students with the best proposals reach out to the orgs early to receive feedback before submitting their final proposal - those students who have already been reaching out to you are likely to be among your best student options this year.
Post Student Proposal Period: March 27 - April 8
Students must submit their final proposal as a PDF through the website. It will be visible to mentors/org admins after the deadline for student applications (March 27 16:00 UTC). We will make our decisions on which students to accept based on the contents of the final PDF proposal and our interactions with the student.

@freddygv As per the timeline : https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/how-it-works/#timeline , Evaluations happen between Aug 14th and Aug 21, but i am guessing if you work closely with your mentor, you may get informal feedback on how things are going.
Did you mean evaluation after the proposal has been accepted or evaluation of the proposal itself?... the above info is for proposals that have been accepted. As for timeline for proposals itself.. they get reviewed between: March 27, 2018 - April 23, 2018 .No projects are accepted for GSoC 2018 after April 23rd. You are welcome to submit them and contribute to OpenCensus, but it would be part of GSoC 2018 program.
