Hi all! l have observed your talks for some day and it seems that some of the idea here https://storage.googleapis.com/summer-of-code/OpenCensusIdeasList.pdf is too complex to apply for? l am confused about what kind of project will you accept? l am experienced with node and know something about golang. Can l send a proposal on improving the existing opencensus-go or any recommendation?

-- Better UX - Convert static website to use markdowns, hugo template

@adarsh1021 have you contributed to Django before? One of the issue with integrating with 3rdparty frameworks is we need to engage with the maintainers so your contributions can be accepted. Having prior experience contributing the frameworks would definitely help.
I hope I am not much late to the work around.
I am pretty interested in Hugo and the project of developing new features for the website.
I have noticed the huge change in the website (It looks just great) . but couldn't find the source anywhere in the github repos
The old website was missing a lot, and I was drafting some to do with GSoC. but I guess with the new website I am kinda confused
( the changes is here [census-instrumentation/opencensus-website#30] . I didn't check the pull requests )
The new website is just static html pages. Need to convert them to hugo pages..
Student Proposals
Student Proposal Submission period: March 12-27
Starting next week students will be able to submit their proposals via the program website. Each student may submit up to 3 proposals to the program. This is a change from last year when we allowed 5 proposals. They can submit multiple proposals to the same organization for different projects if they wish.

Think about what problem you are solving, what is missing today and how OpenCensus can help
if they have a repo for it, they haven't made it public
would still like to know about the draft submission process though, different organizations have different preferences for this

I'd also like to point out that as a first time org this year, we may only get 1-2 slots. In case your proposal is not accepted, please do not feel disheartened. You could always submit your contributions on github and be part of the opencensus developer community. We'll find ways to reward you for your contributions.
Quick update on the project we selected. Thanks to all those who sent in your proposals. We received around 14 proposals and had just one slot to fill this year. We decided to go with Website conversion to Hugo and enabling markdown to make it easy to edit pages. There were several proposals around Python, Nodejs which is already being implemented this quarter so we had to lower the priority on those proposals. As mentioned earlier, you are always welcome to contribute to the project outside the GSoC framework.
