Hi guys! I'm making my reservations and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham sounds nice :)
However, how are you planning to stay for BOSC? Are you going for the conference hotels?

I bit the bullet and booked the overflow conference hotel (Disney Beach Resort or somesuch) for two nights. It's expensive, but the noticably cheaper hotels are >1h walk away :-/

Robin, I'm staying at the conference hotels for BOSC -- there aren't a lot of non-disney choices nearby. We'll arrange for a shuttle down from FamiLAB on Thursday night to try to make it easier.

Thanks! That sounds great :) I'll await the new official hotel option a little while perhaps

Hi all - I can't make it over to the US this time, but will hopefully join for the codefest remotely :)
(or at least some of it, depending on how the time zone differences work out)
Looking forward to it!

Phil, glad you can make it remotely. The plan is to bring a laptop so we can have Google Hangout going with a Jabra for decent sound. Hopefully that plus chat will make it a nice remote experience.

Cool! Well it'll be my first remote hackathon, so I'll be curious to see how it goes :)

@robinandeer The new official hotel is the Disney Beach Resort I mentioned; if you put yourself on the waiting list you should have gotten an email about it. It's not mentioned on the website though it seems.

Possible :-) Never though I'd ever stay in a Disney hotel (and certainly never aspired to...)

@cbrueffer I'm guessing they've negotiated prices but do you know the price-range for that hotel?

I was very surprised how quick the conference hotels sold out. Our lab made reservations at Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, 14100 Bonnet Creek Resort Lane, Orlando, FL 32821 for $170/night

and the conference registration fees are awfully high this year too. I'm thinking I want to take back my vote previously to keep BOSC co-located with ISMB . . . :[

@robinandeer "Rooms at the Beach Club are $179 a night plus tax"
@heuermh Agreed. This is my first real bio* conference, but that quite shocked me as well.

ISMB doesn't focus on keeping costs down. One of the motivators for co-locating with GCC is that they typically try to make it as affordable as possible. But, Disney.

Well, the upside is that it's close to the Kennedy Space Center. Not complaining about that :-)
