Hi, Is there any easy way to add custom checkstyle rules, to fail build for using specific classes
Roman Ivanov
@romani
While checkstyle/checkstyle#6481 is not done, no very easy way, but you are welcome to contribute such implementation
Pavel Bludov
@pbludov
Pitest is broken because I messed up the System.err and System.out when migrating to Junit5. Soon there will be a PR with a fix.

@Suchet-Agg Read over https://checkstyle.org/beginning_development.html . You can pick any issue from our repository of things needing fixing. If you want us to assign you an issue we think will be good for beginners, let us know. You just need to say "I am on it" in the issue you are working on to let others know.

@amritk07 and to any GSOC students. Please read over https://github.com/checkstyle/checkstyle/wiki/To-student-of-GSoC-2020 . As we were just accepted yesterday, we are working to identify issues to help get your "feet wet" when being introduced to the Checkstyle project. If you need an admin to assign you an issue, please each out to me or @romani . Questions or help on a specific issue should be asked inside the issue or PR.

@rnveach Ok, thanks! I've started looking into available issues.
yajna pandith
@yajna-pandith
Hi @romani I am Yajna Pandith currently studying in 2nd year Engineering. I am interested in contributing to checkstyle . Please assign me an issue, as all the coding issues in the github page are taken.
yajna pandith
@yajna-pandith
Since there were no coding issues available in gsoc label , I have picked up #7476 issue (it is not a gsoc labelled issue: Hope it is okay ) . I have commented " i am on it" in the comment section of this issue.
rnveach
@rnveach
@yajna-pandith Please look over https://github.com/checkstyle/checkstyle/wiki/To-student-of-GSoC-2020 . There are plenty of issues available for the GSoC first timers. See https://github.com/checkstyle/checkstyle/labels/gsoc%20first%20issue
yajna pandith
@yajna-pandith
@rnveach I will go through the link. Regarding the issues for GSoC first timers, the issues are either documentation based (I am a little skeptical in choosing documentation issues as these will not outrightly highlight my coding skills ) or the coding issues on which people have commented " I am on it" .
How should i go about from here? Help me .
Thanks in advance.
rnveach
@rnveach
We recommend the easy issues to get familar with our processes and such. You are not limited to just 1 issue. Once you done one you are free to move onto a more harder issue.
yajna pandith
@yajna-pandith
@rnveach I understand and I appreciate the concern.Since i am not finding a good coding first issue It would be Great if you could assign me an easy coding issue which is not taking by any .
rnveach
@rnveach
There is an easy label which you can use to look at issues we have identified as easy. Some are labeled like that because it is simply or the issue provides details on how to complete the work. If you don't want to try a gsoc one first, then you can try looking at checkstyle/checkstyle#6893 .
