@Giancarlos handlers are thread-based, you cannot really safely kill a thread in Python. For long-running processes spawn background jobs detached from the handler thread and also when using own threads you need to have a mechanizm for communicating "close request" from the outside.

@duper51 i'm not sure whether it's safe. @jaraco may have more insight on this... it's hard to add have a conclusion w/o reading the RFC closely
