Picking up my api work again and I'm realizing why I set it down in the first place. So many little things that have to be done with the choco lib api to make it work. Bleh >_<

@RichiCoder1 is there anything that I can help out with? Are there things that we need to get added into Chocolatey Lib?

There's some high level stuff around filtering that's difficult, but the biggest roadblock appears to be that I can't get all the metadata I need soley from Chocolatey Lib, since it appears chocolatey lib can't get the data from nuget. /cc @ferventcoder hence my question
I could take a hybrid approach and do listing/filter/sources through chocolatey, but still fall back to odata for statics and update available

what sort of metadata are you after?

(there also doesn't appear to be a convienient way to get whether a package needs an update through the api, so I'd need to build that out as well as redesign how chocolatey gui looks for updates)
Most of whats missing is around download stats, file information, etc.. Authors, names, ids, descriptions, and the basics all appear to be ther
Which makes sense in a round about way
The biggest personal milestone for me right now in gettting ChocoLib integration up and running is being able to get a list of the local packages and display their details without falling back to OData to get specifics. That doesn't appear to be possible as things currently stand.
I'd love to proven wrong.
To be more specific PackageResult.Package returned from choco's List<T> is missing a number of properties (and also doesn't map cleanly to our view models, but that's honestly secondary)

Off the top of my head, I don't have an answer for you, but perhaps @ferventcoder does.
Would it make sense to move forward with the inclusion of ChocoLib and sacrifice some pieces of functionality?
we gain quite a lot from switching to ChocoLib, so if that is at teh expense of some information, I think I would be ok with that
at least then we have something we can build on

I've been thinking that. Ditching download stats and links would get us most of the way there I think

In which case, I think I am ok with it. As long as we create some issues to cover adding back in that functionality, and then, after we chat with Rob, we can decide whether this is something that can be added into ChocoLib, or whether we need to go another route

Download stats should be there - I know it is an example but quite a bit of info comes from choco list -v - Not sure the format coming back is primetime tho, so that needs enhanced

Hi @ferventcoder suggested I post this question here -- evaluating a local implementation of nuget gallery -- I set up a private NuGet Gallery server and can successfully download packages and upload packages via the GUI. When I do a choco push it is successful but the package never appears in the NuGet Gallery server, nor the database nor file system. Any quick tips on troubleshooting?

@bbollard is the feed that you are using an authenticated feed?
is this an issue specifically with ChocolateyGUI? Are you saying that the packages don't appear in the ChocolateyGUI application, once you have pushed it?
if so, have you tried clicking "refresh packages"

@gep13 Hi I think this question doesn't belong in this forum. This is not an issue with ChocolateyGUI. I am trying to use the choco CLI to push a package to a private NuGet Server Gallery. To which room do you think this question best be posted to? thank you for your help

@bbollard ah ok, so this seems like a general issue with using chocolatey with this NuGet Server. I would suggest that the best room to ask the question would be the one that you started with :-) Can you post back over there, saying that you have been there and sent back again. Perhaps lay out the exact steps that you are using, and any log messages that you are seeing that might shed some light on the issue. Also, can you provide some information about which NuGet Server you are using.
