wait, the export file can be passed directly to choco to install everything?
also, I recall seeing something on twitter about generating a list of installed programs that where not installed by choco, but could have been?

@M-Zuber yes, that is correct.
There is some functionality in the new licenses editions of chocolatey that allows for syncing between chocolatey installs and installs outside of chocolatey. Perhaps that is what you are referring to?

I might check it out, but the most recent time I had to repave my PC it would not have helped as some program had messed with the file system (or something) to the extent that the export function did not even work

@M-Zuber you can also just create a packages.json (no license required) and run choco install from the directory where this is stored, though I find using Boxstarter.org an easier affair as I can do it without having to download any files or even Chocolatey

I used boxstarter, but had to update my orig script by hand one by one

ouch, that's where I use AppVeyor to quickly do a sanity check, the VM auto destroys so I just have to tweak my gist and hit build :D
