Hi Folks,
This is my first post here so sorry for any breaches of etiquette
I've recently inherited our implementation of chocolatey and i'm trying to leverage it to deploy an app using self service.
While it seems to be working for the most part, every time I (or any non admin user) selects a source in chocoGUI, it takes 3-10 seconds to load and the console output displays

Error serializing type chocolatey.infrastructure.app.configuration.ConfigFileSettings:
Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\config\chocolatey.config.6432.update' is denied.
This is try 1/3. Retrying after 400 milliseconds.
 Error converted to warning:
Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\config\chocolatey.config.6432.update' is denied.
Error serializing type chocolatey.infrastructure.app.configuration.ConfigFileSettings:
 Access to the pat

it'll still eventually load the source contents / install the package but i assume that a proper setup probably shouldn't be spitting out so much red.

Is this just a case of choco should have been installed to a directory that non-admins can write to?

Using C4B and Self-Service?
This is a known issue/warning

It thinks there is a change to the config so it tries to write it out but has no access
Everything is fine - that is something we are still investigating and will fix in a future release. It's supposed to come out as a warning as well

ah i see. so no harm then?
for self service situations is it recommended to install a different directory?
*also, thanks for your response

No with self-service you want it installed in default directory - that's all locked down and all that which prevents escalation of privilege
Also - you have a private support channel - run choco support for details on how to use it

Hey!
Have you guys developed some C# api that you talk to or do you execute cli commands and get the output from the console?
