Never used any of them, but happy to give them a try
the 3 days retention for ExceptionLess in the free plan seems like it might be a limitation, and only one user allowed
but could definitely give it a spin and see if it provides any value
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I've heard great things about flurry, but do they have a .Net SDK?
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
ah, now that you say that, I don't think they do. I know they have one for Windows Phone 8, but doesn't look like there is one for .net :-(
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
Another one is here: http://raygun.io/ which looks VERY nice
working just now on getting a freebie for using it :-)
will keep you posted
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@RichiCoder1 ok, I have set up a Raygun account, and I have invited you to join the application. The Co-Founder of Mindscape says he is happy to give us a Medium Account on Raygun, in exchange for adding a link to Raygun on the CHocolateyGUI project page, which assuming we are happy with it, i don't have a problem with it
what do you think?
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
That's very awesome!
Sorry for not responding.
I'll work on integrating it at least basically this evening.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
did you get somewhere with this? I created an issue on Github and assigned it to myself so I was going to be starting to work on it, but it are going to be doing it, I will leave it. If you are working on things like this though, can you make sure to create an issue for it, and keep it's status up to date so that we know where things are at? Cheers
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Sorry, not much has happened this week. I did start looking into it, but that was about the extent of my efforts.
Just hanging out Ryan?
Ryan Rauh
@rauhryan
haha yeah just lurking your room
admiring your HuBoard integration :)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
:P
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
ha ha, lurkers are more than welcome! :-)
@RichiCoder1 not a problem. I should have some time on Tuesday, so if I get to it before you, I will grab the GH Issue and assign it to me.
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
@gep13 Sorry for dropiing off the radar. It's been a suprisingly busy past little while >_<
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@RichiCoder1 not a problem at all, these things happen. It is the nature of OSS, and it is to be expected. :-)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Close all the things!
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
yip yip yip
it's the best part :-)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I really should have tested that powershell loading screen more. I could have sworn I fixed the button text and set a max height on the powershell dialog
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
ha ha, not a problem. I really think I like the addition of the progress window now with the addition of the powershell window. It was a little jarring to start with thought, as I wasn't expecting it.
what control do we have over it? i.e. could the background of the window be made to be the same control as teh progress window?
i just wonder if that would be slightly more intuitive
if that is the right word
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I'm not sure what you mean. Everything you see in that window is customizable though. I just originally made it to appear as close to an actual console as possible to give the impression of it being a real one.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
yeah, didn't think I explained myself very well. I haven't look at the code, so not entirely sure how you have implemented it, but sounds as though you have styled the progress window to look like a PowerShell window, as opposed to shelling out to PowerShell and displaying the results.
i love the fact that we are seeing the full progress of the commands, I just wonder whether it should be displayed in colours closer to the progress window, i.e. the cream colour, with black text, rather than the standard PowerShell blue and white text
it was just a little "jarring" to me when I first opened the application, and then when I ran the update all command
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
It's....complicated. The actual "console" is just a rich text box, but it's receiving input from a full blown UI wrapper around the powershell process.
I could definitely make the console blend in and appear more normal.
I might actually make the console backround a chocolate background with cream text so there's still some distinction between the console and the progress modal
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
yip, i think that would work
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I pulled the color scheme largely from ChocoPM, so the powershell-ish theme made a lot more sense against the black and blue theme there xD
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
ah gotcha
on the whole though, the application is really shaping up! You have a lot to be proud of! :-)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Powershell interop is suprisingly complex. I'll greatly appreciate it if and when we move over to another method.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
If Rob get's his way, the next version of Chocolatey will be an exe, similar to what you get with nuget.exe, so that should hopefully as a lot easier to work with :-D
anyway, that is me for the night, need to head
talk to you later
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Ttyl!
Have a good night
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
you too!
