@gep13
i love the fact that we are seeing the full progress of the commands, I just wonder whether it should be displayed in colours closer to the progress window, i.e. the cream colour, with black text, rather than the standard PowerShell blue and white text
it was just a little "jarring" to me when I first opened the application, and then when I ran the update all command
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
It's....complicated. The actual "console" is just a rich text box, but it's receiving input from a full blown UI wrapper around the powershell process.
I could definitely make the console blend in and appear more normal.
I might actually make the console backround a chocolate background with cream text so there's still some distinction between the console and the progress modal
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
yip, i think that would work
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I pulled the color scheme largely from ChocoPM, so the powershell-ish theme made a lot more sense against the black and blue theme there xD
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
ah gotcha
on the whole though, the application is really shaping up! You have a lot to be proud of! :-)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Powershell interop is suprisingly complex. I'll greatly appreciate it if and when we move over to another method.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
If Rob get's his way, the next version of Chocolatey will be an exe, similar to what you get with nuget.exe, so that should hopefully as a lot easier to work with :-D
anyway, that is me for the night, need to head
talk to you later
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Ttyl!
Have a good night
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
you too!

@ferventcoder
So can anyone come in here or is it limited to committers?
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Any can ATM
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
yeah I say Ryan popped in
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@ferventcoder @RichiCoder1 if the Github Repo were private, then only members of the repo could join a Gitter conversation, but any public repo is open to anyone
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
@gep13 Haha, completely dropped of the face of the earth didn't I? I'm planning on setting aside a few hours this week to attack the remaining issues.

@ferventcoder

@jackkav
Hi, I'm interested in contributing, noticed a few usability issues with the release build, had a look at the alpha WPF build, so much better. Good job guys.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
Hello @jackkav, thank for dropping by! We would welcome any contributions that you would like to offer. Did you have anything specific in mind? Thanks!
jackkav
@jackkav
Well my first stumbling block was the alpha GUI wont let me install, because its a fresh install and running scripts is disabled. (PSSecurityException) Yet the release build works fine. Then there is plenty of scope for the WPF gallery, hover over descriptions, smoother search and pagination. Testing, bug fixes, anything else, I'm not bothered how I'm contributing just eager to help out. I haven't worked on anything open source yet, but I'm familiar with all of the tools you are using. Cheers.

@gep13
Hello @jackkav if there is anything in particular that you want to start working on, feel free to raise an issue for it on the Github site here: https://github.com/chocolatey/ChocolateyGUI/issues?direction=desc&sort=updated&state=open and then we can start discussing it in more depth, and once everyone is happy, we can start accepting pull requests to get the features/suggestions/defects included into the beta version of ChocolateyGUI. You will also see a number of open issues, all of which are essentially "up for grabs" if there is something that you feel that you can help out on, free feel to jump right in :-)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
@gep13 Goodness, someones moving busily.
Anything I can do to help? Still crazy busy, but I'll have some free tim esoon
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@RichiCoder1 I have finally got some time to do some stuff, so I thought I would jump in :-)
I will give you a shout if there is anything that I am confused about though.
I have just merged the wpf_refresh branch into master, ready to start tidying up the last remaining issues
I have also just created a new "develop" branch that I would like us to start using, been using Gitflow at work, and want to start using it here
I will set up all the MyGet Build stuff in order to have that work
I am finally been able to get to a point that my todo list is a little more free, and ChocolateyGUI is at the top for a change :-D
This was also spurred on by some of the stuff that Rob has been working on, there is some VERY cool stuff coming to Chocolatey, and I would like ChocolateyGUI to be in a position to take advantage of some of it when it lands
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Sounds awesome! Very excited for what's coming down the Pipeline.
Very fond of gitflow now that Ive been using it
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
me too! There are loads of new features! Rob really has been a busy guy!
woot! glad we are on the same page there, I really like using it now!
have you played with GitVersion? Going to be using that to set the semantic version, based on the state of the repo
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Nope! Heard of it though
I may have to turn of github notifications if you keep being this busy :)
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
choco install gitversion.portable
ha ha, just tidying up some issues, so that we know where we are
once i have done that, I am hitting the hay, been a busy day
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
right, that is me done, you can turn back on Github Notifications. signing off
talk to you later :-)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Haha, have a good night!
