@ferventcoder

chocolatey/choco#668
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Fun haha.
Oh yah, there's a way to plug into chocolateys logging right? The next big item on my todo if fixing up the progress displays.
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
@RichiCoder1 default order by version sort order?
yes, there is a way to hook right in
descending appears to be the right order here
for default
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
well that was easy
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Ohh? Haha
Yup, that looks like it was easy alright :)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
@gep13 Mind giving that branch a swing when you get a chance? Double verification and all. Still working on progress messages so install/uninstall/update will be a little derpy
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
@RichiCoder1 chocolatey/choco#670

If you can think of other things, I’m open to adding them

@ferventcoder
@RichiCoder1 I just pushed a lib with all of those changes
I think that should get you just about everything you need :D
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Will do! I'll see about integrating it this evening.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@RichiCoder1 I will add it to the list of things that I need to get to :-D

@tom2222
Hi, when i start chocolateygui I always get the follwing error diasymreader.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error , is it because of Windows 10? I tried compatibility mode but doesnt help. :worried: The program does start but does show error all the time, also I run it as administrator.
Thanks for the help.
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@tom2222 I am not familiar with that particular error message. While there are some issues with running on Windows 10, I believe it should currently be working.
Can I get you to raise an issue https://github.com/chocolatey/ChocolateyGUI/issues, providing as much information as possible, and we can look into it
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
@gep13 @RichiCoder1 the latest pushed chocolatey.lib should now be client profile
and by latest pushed I mean like 15 seconds ago
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
Whoa - when did NuGet start sending emails when you published packages? :D
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Apparently now haha
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
@RichiCoder1 there is an issue with environment variable refreshing in that lib file
I’m going to pull it
the choco.exe is not affected thanks to automated review
This - chocolatey/choco@9c3f5d0
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Sounds good. Let me know when there's a new solid version I can use.
Haven't pulled it in yet

Newbie here - Where does Chocolatey download and install programs. I can't find Putty on Win 10 - Chocolatey GUI says it it installed
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@awakekat the answer is, it depends. Chocolatey is typically a wrapper around the native installer, so the application files will go where they normally live, i.e. program files, etc. In the case of putty, assuming you did choco install putty you are actually going to portable version, so you should find it here C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\lib\putty.portable\tools however, chocolatey will also have created a "shim" for you, so you should be able to simply type putty at the command line, and it will open. If you are actually looking for the installed version of putty, you are going to want to run choco install putty.install
hope that helps!
Katherine Wakefield
@awakekat
@gep13 Thanks the putty.install solved my problem :thumbsup:
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
@awakekat not a problem at all! Happy to help!

is chocogui compatible with the current beta?
i get an error when starting
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Unlikely to be perfectly honest. That doesn't look like a beta error though
Ankit Gupta
@ankitguptaa
how can I change the format of the file which is being created by
-Verbose *>> \$logFilePath
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
You are going to have to elaborate a little. Format? Are you just directing cake output to a textFile?
Ankit Gupta
@ankitguptaa
I want to change it into ANSI rather than Unicode
