    gep13 on develop

    GH-716 use chocolateyguicli ins… use chocolateyguicli instead of… (compare)

Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Did you patch & drop in the dll? ChocolateyGUI might be complaining about a version number mismatch
Or signkey mismach
Manfred Wallner
@mwallner
yup that's what I did
(I'd done anything to stop the config.xml corruption ^^)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
If you just dropped it in rather than dropping the old reference, adding the patched dll as a refernce, and rebuilding chocolateyGUI, it might complain and not like that
Manfred Wallner
@mwallner
  • we've got a service checking for chocolatey updates and automatically installing a certain selection in the background - that seemed to cause a LOT of trouble in combination with GUI
k, thx - will try!
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I'm about 90% sure that's because choco is very noisy, especially when viewing lists. Lots of concurrent operations which choco was not designed for.
I have a WIP version that reduces that noise somewhat, but that patch should solve the worst of the issues (namely constantly rewriting choco.update to disk)
Manfred Wallner
@mwallner
sadly, but I think @ferventcoder mentioned they are discussing if there should only be one choco.exe allowed to run at a certain time
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I wouldn't advocate one exe at a time (as the Choco vs ChocolateyGUI issues would be present as ChocolateyGUI uses the lib directly and not the exe), but adding some sort of ReaderWriter lock to to make sure Choco isn't performing destructing operations concurrently wouldn't be a terrible idea.

In related, unrelated news, I may have solved our SVG problem in the most silly way possible
Cef also has an phantomjs-esque offscreen mode that allows you to invisibly render content, and then screenshot it.

@gep13
noice! :+1:
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
So I just spin up an offscreen process, set the html the img, and screenshot the result.
And I'll be damned, it works.

Giiiiif
Giiif :D

richicoder1 leveled up! (Karma: 6)
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I updated/upgraded the icons in a few places. Pinned was one.
Here, screenshots speak louder than words:

@gep13
noice!
I guess we will need to update/remove these:
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Yup. Those are going to be incredibly out of date haha
But I'm not going to worry about that until I finish moving the cheese around
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
WAT!
You are moving my cheese!
:-P
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
IKR? I'm a terrible person
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
HA HA!
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
But seriosuly, some parts of this app will be nieh unrecognizable to someone using the previous version. So I'll definetly be moving someone's cheese :P
Gary Ewan Park
@gep13
yeah, and that is to be expected. Greater good and all that.

Eeyup
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
so this cerf thing - can it take screenshots of the entire desktop? Package-Verifier is needing something like this
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Cef? No. Though I can recommend a few good utilites or scripts for caputing the desktop and saving it.
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
@RichiCoder1 please thumbs up/add recommendations to chocolatey/package-verifier#55
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Posted a link to an MS Powershell script I used a while back to good success
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
Also SVG - have you seen/used ImageResizer? It's flipping fantastic - https://github.com/chocolatey/chocolatey.org/blob/master/chocolatey/Website/Services/ImageFileService.cs
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Not only have I seen/used it, I backed the kickstarter for imageflow
I may have to look into that code though. We're just passing images straight through (except svgs) atm. Seems to be working fine but shrug haha
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
Shoot - I need to send Nathanael a donation - I would have backed that Kickstarter! :worried:
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
The only reason I caught it in time was because it got spammed across twitter haha
