Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
@RichiCoder1 I've made it quite a ways but I can't seem to get the GUI to use debug/verbose like I've requested
wait...
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
?
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
when it logs it only hits a higher level
asking the question made me realize it might be log4net config
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Chocolatey's logging is a bit black magic to me I'll admit
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
I've passed through debug/verbose so that the logging would be set correctly
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
@ferventcoder To which one though? Don't forget the service that does 99% of the chatting with Choco is the subprocess.exe

Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
If that'd work normally, that should work here :)
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
It worked
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Ohh, cool! Sorry, I thought you were saying it wasn't
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
and when I did a rebase to bring in all the latest code for the GUI
it suddenly stopped working
not sure where or why but was curious if you started limiting what goes out in logs
and why don't you simply allow chocolatey to log to its default location?
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
So we can report errors when something fails
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
you can add an additional logger
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
????
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
yeah
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
(Can I also point out that having Console Ouput & Logging be the same thing is a little weird xD?)
So how do I add it as an additional logger?
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
one sec
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Well, actually, if you want to fix that in that branch and make sure it works :P
I've figured out most of the issues for getting the GUI to work with the licensed module
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
He's using SetCustomLogging just like me?
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
Possibly
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Yup he is. Our implementation is largely the same
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
Will check to be sure
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Hmm. All SubProcess does is stream log messages to the main process. And according to https://github.com/chocolatey/ChocolateyGUI/blob/develop/Source/ChocolateyGui/Bootstrapper.cs#L83 if you're running in debug it's set to the lowest level already
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
Not building as Debug
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
ChocolateyGUI defaults to Information for Release mode build
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
That's probably exactly what I needed right there
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder

With GUI and/or the subprocess I tend to run into quite a few errors sometimes.
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
I could have sworn I just fixed that bug
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
within the last couple of days?
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Yup
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
could be
I am in the branch and I just did a rebase a day or so ago
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
Trying to polish GUI this week. Please post any issues you hit.
Manfred Wallner
@mwallner
@RichiCoder1 I'd really love to see chocolatey/choco#1264 in the next ChocolateyGUI - but I guess that won't be until another release is done with choco 0.10.6 dll ? CC @ferventcoder
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
If @ferventcoder merges and releases sooner than later, I don't see why it can't be merged in :)
Rob Reynolds
@ferventcoder
okay, getting really close
for some reason the config that is passed around in the API doesn't get changed over to the licensed config
Richard Simpson
@RichiCoder1
@ferventcoder I have no idea what that means, but I believe in you :D
Varriount @Varriount always wonders why XML is used for anything these days

Me as well @Varriount
