@andreaturli
hi @sjcorbett is the brooklyn-tosca/README up-to-date? I’m trying to build the project from root but cannot find assembly. Shall I run mvn clean install assembly:single from brooklyn-tosca-dist ?
Sam Corbett
@sjcorbett
I think mvn clean install from the project root should be sufficient.
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
thx @sjcorbett I think I found my way, wondering if README needs to be updated, tho
I’ve another question: is there a way to expose brooklyn catalogue as tosca things?
Sam Corbett
@sjcorbett
Not fully at the moment.
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
cool, thanks @sjcorbett
If time allows over the next couple of days I will extend this.
And use supertypes rather than refer to specific entity implementations.
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
nice there is a roadmap
Sam Corbett
@sjcorbett
The goal of the provider was to make it simple for downstream projects to use too.
By providing their own implementation and configuring via Alien UI, I think.
So good to know if it's any use for Seaclouds.
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
potentially yes, but not entirely sure yet. still evaluating a couple of use cases

hi @robertmoss is it possible to define a tosca topology which contains a wrapper app with 2 children, i.e. a tomcat server and a mysql?
something like

  • my_app
    • tomcat
    • mysql

in this way I could attach policies to my_app that the children will inherit

I know in CAMP it is possible, what about TOSCA?
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
I
Hi @sjcorbett probably. In that example, if I get it right, MySql is logically a child of Compute that has a scalable policy attached?
Sam Corbett
@sjcorbett
It's more like MySQL is a Compute and every Compute has a location applied.
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
ok thanks @sjcorbett, so similarly to the PlacementPolicy for the location, you are suggesting to add another policy, say FollowTheSun, to the Compute so that MySql will inherit it? (whatever follow the sun means for mysql ? :P )
Sam Corbett
@sjcorbett
Yes
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
ok great, thanks
@kiuby88 does it solve your problem? ^^
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
good morning @/all
quick question, suppose I’m using something like this
if I want to specify a different location, shall I use the brooklyn locations syntax?
Jose
@kiuby88
@andreaturli, take a look to this
Andrea Turli
@andreaturli
perfect, thanks @kiuby88

Hi @/all

I have tried to test a NodeTemplate which contains two relations based on the same NodeType's requirement.
Here you can find an example on Alien4Cloud/Samples repository.

Followig these example I have extended brooklyn-tosca/.../relations.yaml adding another RelationshipTemplate which is based on dbConnection requirement.
The problem is that, although two relatiosns are specified for tomcat_server, only one of them are processed and added to the entitySpec's configs.

I think a possible solution could add to Alien4CloudFacade#findRelationshipsRequirement and Alien4CloudFacade#getPropertiesAndTypeValues the necessary support to manage several relations.
Then, I have opened #90.

In any case, does this feature make sense for you?
Thx

Hi @kiuby88 @robertgmoss and I have just reviewed and merged your PR. Thanks for the changes!

Hi @/all I’m trying to deploy this blueprint in AMP Pro:
name: Server (AMP Example)

# this basic example shows how AMP can provision a single raw VM
# in the cloud or location of your choice

services:
- type:           server
  name:           My VM

location:
  CenturyLinkCloud:NY1:
    identity:     cloudsoftinc
    credential:   !Password
and I get ERROR Unable to instantiate item; 2 errors including: Transformer for tosca gave an error creating this plan: Brooklyn TOSCA support is disabled

If I type

credential:   “!Password”

it works correctly. Is the ! character carrying a special meaning here?

Sam Corbett
@sjcorbett
@googlielmo Not sure why Brooklyn errors - is there anything of interest in the debug log? The tosca 'error' is (obviously) not an error and should not be fixed in the next release.
Thus quoting is the right thing to do.
Guglielmo Nigri
@googlielmo
Wow, didn’t know that! Thanks Sam!
I was mislead by the Tosca (non-)error :)

Hi all
I have opened a new PR, #103
I think I found a little issue (but I am not sure)
I hope you will agree about the PR’s goal :)

@kiuby88
I do not know why Travis is not happy
