I have taken up the issue of GitIgnore Bear. But I am still not clear about what the bear is supposed to do? What info is it supposed to give when a user runs it on any repo?

I have read the documentation on writing a Bear. What I meant was, what is the bear supposed to do if there is a file in local repository which matches any entry in .gitignore file

@soumya-ranjan7 , the bear should create & yield a Result object describing the problem.

"there is a file in local repository which matches any entry in .gitignore file" - that is the problem

Is that really a problem? I mean they are going to be ignored whenever the user performs a commit. What are we trying to achieve with the use of this bear?

@soumya-ranjan7 From what I understand, this bear will ensure(double-check) that there are no such files being tracked by git, which have been mentioned in the .gitignore file.

Ohh okay. Now I get it. In the description it was written to check if any files in local repo matched the entries in .gitignore. I wasn't able to infer from it and misunderstood it.
Thanks @srivama

@jayvdb Should the bear also untrack those files(matching entries in .gitignore), like a patch? Or just a warning message stating the file location is fine?

Just a Result for each file
