Greeting all. I am a newbie and I would like to contribute. I have gone through the docs and have tried the project on python. Can someone guide me on how to proceed further?

@anshalshukla
@mahesh33_gitlab, you can pick up newcomers issue and try solving it. You can even take issues that had been taken a while before and are still unresolved. Just drop a comment that you are working on it.

Welcome @eshaanmandal! :tada:

To get started, please follow our newcomers guide. The guide might tell you that corobo's command will get you an invite, but it won't, I'm not corobo (he's my father and he's too tired to work atm).

The alternative is to request access to gitlab instead. A developer or maintainer will then soon invite you to the organization. But just to let you know, the invite might get delayed since most of our maintainers are busy.

Only after you've received and accepted the invitation, we can assign issues. Until that, feel free to explore coala.

Hello, I have been trying to solve this coala/coala#6086, what I found out is there are two sections , all and cli that are configs passed in .coafile and cli respectively and they run the checker individually, so both of these run and check files that we want to ignore. there are some things that can give us the expected behaviour :
1) Set up a optional flag in the argument where one can chose to run only the cli section
2) check for the files flag in the cli section and if it is provided do not run the all section
Any input on the issue would be helpful, if there is something better that can be done, I would be happy to implement it.

@ashok-arora you need to find that :)

Tbh, there might be many issues which are not tagged as newcomer although they might be simple enough if you know where to look

That's great. You can start by setting up coala locally and then you can take up any issue which doesn't have an active PR. Just comment to let others know that you're working on it :)
