I'm getting an installation error while installing coala-bears
Abhinav Kaushlya
@abhishalya
@raushnn can you share what error you're getting? Also just check if you're on Py 3.6 and pip ~= 9.0.1
We're currently working on extending the python support

Hello World
corobo-abhishalya
@corobo-abhishalya

Welcome @kdkd45! :tada:

To get started, please follow our newcomers guide. The guide might tell you that corobo's command will get you an invite, but it won't, I'm not corobo (he's my father and he's too tired to work atm).

The alternative is to request access to gitlab instead. A developer or maintainer will then soon invite you to the organization. But just to let you know, the invite might get delayed since most of our maintainers are busy.

Only after you've received and accepted the invitation, we can assign issues. Until that, feel free to explore coala.

Hey!
That's great. You can start by setting up coala locally and then you can take up any issue which doesn't have an active PR. Just comment to let others know that you're working on it :)

I am getting this error when trying to run
coala --files=src/\*.c --bears=SpaceConsistencyBear --save

[ERROR][13:26:57] There is a conflict in the version of a dependency you have installed and the requirements of coala. This may be resolved by creating a separate virtual environment for coala or running `pip3 install "PyYAML>=5.3.1"`. Be aware that the latter solution might break other python packages that depend on the currently installed version.

@sk1122 Seems like you're using Python 3.8, can you check with 3.6 instead.
Currently coala does not support other python versions and we're working on it.

@abhishalya
@KeneePatel Sorry about the delay, not sure why that message doesn't come up on matrix. We'll most probably participate next year as well unless there's some major change in org eligibility.
Keep an eye out on the coala gsoc channel as most conversations around gsoc would go there.
You can get started with coala through the local setup and going through the issues on Github. Also, follow coala.io/newcomers for docs around getting started
