@frextrite Tried it, they require school issued email, and they have no connection to github. So apparently no use :/
I think most of the things offered in github student pack aren't really useful especially if you don't have a credit card and don't have a school email

@hemangsk
@abhishalya Just send them a scanned PDF of your college ID card, that should suffice

I don't understand how can a newcomer get a motivation to stay with this org for so long to get the invitation from the maintainer. If the process is taking so long then you can just allow a newcomer to contribute then send an invitation to become member if he is worthy.
I have been waiting for days..
Sladyn
@sladyn98
@Dilshaad21 We are so sorry for making you wait, we are working on making this much easier for newcomers.You can definitely submit PR's, just comment on the issue that you are working on it.
Keshav Garg
@KVGarg
Also, a try to add possible automation for joining the community will be added on coala community website. The related work to that has already been completed, soon it will get up after getting the work merged.
@Dilshaad21 this problem never existed as we were having corobot which used to handle all the invitations. But the bot is down for maintenance which is causing all such problems.

@abhishalya
@hemangsk I'm sorry but send where? I already got the pack, its just that not everything mentioned is accessible even after getting it.
@Dilshaad21 You can definitely work without waiting for the invite. Just maintain a proper communication so that someone's work is not being wasted while doing so.

@abhishalya @sladyn98 I am waiting for the invitation as well. Can I start taking issues by commenting on them and working on them without the invite?

@sladyn98
Yeah sure @prateekj117

Is it OK

Welcome @GeniusLearner! :tada:

To get started, please follow our newcomers guide. The guide might tell you that corobo's command will get you an invite, but it won't, I'm not corobo (he's my father and he's too tired to work atm).

The alternative is to request access to gitlab instead. A developer or maintainer will then soon invite you to the organization. But just to let you know, the invite might get delayed since most of our maintainers are busy.

Only after you've received and accepted the invitation, we can assign issues. Until that, feel free to explore coala.

Hello everyone! I am Samesh and have been consistently contributing to open source for some time now. I am comfortable with development in Python and frameworks like Flask and Django. I would like to extend this by becoming a mentor for GCI this time under Coala. Can someone help me out on this regard?

Sorry @sameshl I can't assign issues. Till then can you find an issue which doesn't already have assigning comments, even if there is, it should be quite old... If you find such issue, just comment there confirming you're working on that issue and create a PR as soon as possible. This is probably the workaround until the maintainers are free to invite and assign issues

@KVGarg can we take issue from coala/community??

Yes! You can take issues. Provided that no PR has been created for the issue on which you wish to work.

Majority of the codebase is in Python so I suggest you get familiar with it and start going through issues to see if you could solve any.
