Would you happen to know what's a safe way for mobile apps to connect? Save API key to device? Somehow use the google auth to access your server? Safest would be to use another server to store the user's API key?
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
either? there are API keys available from your config page when you log-in
that's probably the simplest solution for interacting with the underlying API
Brady Trainor
@bradyt
Okay, thank you!

How put a task in Doing list of trello from command line?
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
@vasconssa -- if you look at your trello configuration intheam, it gives you a brief overview of what fields control what properties
you'll find the answer you're looking for there
Brady Trainor
@bradyt
Is the same API key associated with a given login username forever?
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
well, until you reset it, yes
Brady Trainor
@bradyt
Which reset do you mean?
Raphael de Vasconcelos Nascimento
@vasconssa
Thanks @coddingtonbear, but I mean in a automatic way, I expected that when I start a task, the task woukd go automatically. To Doing trello list
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
Everybody has their own idiosyncratic methods for managing their own tasks, and to include options for each of those personal rules would make Inthe.AM harder to maintain than it already is. I'm afraid you're on your own for writing ways of managing which columns tasks can appear in -- luckily, you can write your own software for manipulating those pretty easily since those tasks exist locally on your computer, too.

@coddingtonbear syncs don't seem to be working. taskwarrior claims a successful sync occurred, but web tasks don't show up on the commandline nor vice-versa.

I'm subscribing to the ical feed and task show up in my calendar. However, they show up as all day tasks even when they were created in the cli with a time due. Does anyone know how to make the task show on the calendar at the appropriate time?

Hello! Thanks so much for building this service!

I'm noticing a strange bug where trying to filter the list of tasks on my iPhone X does nothing; all tasks display whether they fit the criteria or not. I assume this is a bug in CSS, as the filtering works on my iPad and my laptop. Is this a known issue?

Also I'm having trouble filtering on project when the project name contains spaces; is there some way to do this?

@djotaku
Just ended up blowing things away and redoing the sync and for now it seems ok.
Georgio Ghazzi
@georgioghazzi
any way to show completed tasks in the API? there was this link which showed the completed tasks in v1 of the API https://inthe.am/api/v1/completedtask/
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
I'm afraid listing completed tasks is no longer possible via the API, @georgioghazzi -- it was essentially never used, and when doing maintenance I dropped support for that feature
@djotaku -- I'm glad to hear that fixed things for you! If I had to guess, I'd bet your local taskwarrior and inthe.am were synchronizing to different taskserver accounts; this can happen if you reset inthe.am without also updating your local sync credentials, for example
@joshdoyle -- not at the moment, but pull requests are welcome; you can find the view handling that here: https://github.com/coddingtonbear/inthe.am/blob/development/inthe_am/taskmanager/viewsets/task.py#L371
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
@clgroft -- it's totally possible there are lots of bugs in the filter logic; it's more than a little cludgy; if you can figure out what the bugs are, feel free to post a PR fixing them; you can find that logic here: https://github.com/coddingtonbear/inthe.am/blob/development/app/controllers/tasks.js#L83

Thank you for inthe.am! I have however noticed that accessing one's tasks returns Server Error (500) today. The sync of task warrior also fails.

I can't connect with the server either, same error. And task sync doesn't complete on CLI. Thanks for helping!

@coddingtonbear Hi, it looks like the site is down, timing out on taskserver connections and throwing 5xx on web after login. It would seem your personal website throws 502 too.
let us know if some funding is required, I will be happy to chip in.
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
looking into it now; sec

Thank you, Adam, for your help. The website and sync now appear both working! :-)
I would also be happy to donate, supporting this project and your time.

I appreciate that, but for the moment, I'd rather avoid introducing money into the equation

I just enabled the trello support (what an amazing feature!) but don't see any tasks listed on the indicated trello board in from the config page; should i just give it some time to get synced up there? i think i had trello enabled long ago but had turned it off and hope i am not messing up things
"force resync " seems to be working well
arooni
@arooni
kind of off topic; but have you taskwarrior users found a way of importing multiple tasks at a the same time? say i have 5-10 tasks that have similar characteristics. title/project etc. how best to do that?
arooni
@arooni
Trello labels are mapped to slugified tag names on tasks. That is to say that if you have a label in Trello named "My Project", it will appear on relevant tasks as a tag named "my-project" and vice-versa.
You can change the list a task is displayed on by changing the value of the field intheamtrellolistname.
You can change the description of a task by changing he value of the field intheamtrellodescription." --- question: trello sync seems to work great but i don't see any fields like intheamtrellolistname / description or tags
in the trello interface
Adam Coddington
@coddingtonbear
those are fields in taskwarrior, not in trello, @arooni

Hello! Just started using Taskwarrior and learning about the GTD methodology, and found this service to sync with my phone. Two questions:
  1. Is this service actively developed and supported?
  2. What are the advantages of using Taskwarrior over Todo.txt?
matrixbot
@matrixbot

martylake Hey @VJ, I will answer the second question :

I tried todotxt before by having the text file on a Dropbox, and with intermittent internet connexion I would have Dropbox conflicts all the time.

taskwarrior has a client / server system, and it's very good IMO to deal with this single user multiple devices scenario where you just sync when you can, and work offline 99/100.

On the other end, taskwarrior is not maintained anymore (see GitHub issues), but maybe it will change in the future. If I would start working on my task system now, I would go for something different and maintained (but what? I don't know).

@vjxyz42_gitlab

@martylake That's awesome, thank you for answering my question. I am liking the Taskwarrior workflow and using Inthe.Am, but I will also try Todo.txt when I have time and decide how it compares. The sync issues and having to either rely on a proprietary service like Dropbox or create my own server seem like big downsides though.

Seems like Taskwarrior is pretty feature complete at this moment, so as long as Inthe.Am does not go down anytime soon, then I'm good. The other option I would consider would be Todoist, which seems to have some CLI functionality through 3rd party apps.

matrixbot
@matrixbot

martylake Last time I had big issues was when I tried to use some dashboard tmux system, at some point taskwarrior would be run in the Commande line and the dashboard at the same time and corrupt the files badly.

Appart from that, using the normal command line never failed me. :)

arooni
@arooni
question @coddingtonbear ;; i seem to get one way sync for trello; as in all tasks that i add from task warrior seem to end up in trello; but no tasks that i add from trello seem to show up in taskwarrior (on mac or ubuntu desktop versions of taskwarrior). am i doing something wrong? I tried hitting the 'force resync' in your interface; and that seemed to make trello do something but other than that nothing happened. still the one way sync seems to e happening.

@coddingtonbear
@factor8solutions -- there are instructions on the privacy policy
@arooni -- I'm currently not having any problems with trello, so I'm surprised to hear that
@vjxyz42_gitlab -- I maintain Inthe.AM , but, really, the amount of time I have available is extremely small; so things are sometimes broken
