How do I list as attending the wednesday workshop? When I click the email invite then click 'attend', it just puts me back on the same page
It might be because the Wednesday workshop is now fully booked. When I try to attend now, the following message appears above the hero image: "Unfortunately there are no more spaces left :(. If you would like to join our waiting list send us an email at email@example.com"
Unfortunately the capacity is limited by the sizes of the office that currently host. If anybody knows of bigger spaces that would accommodate, I'm sure @despo would love to hear from you.
In other Codebar news, for those who didn't make it, Rosa did an awesome job representing Codebar at LRUG this evening. Her talk should be up on the Skillsmatter website soon.
or more generally, there are a couple of issues that I opened after the meeting we had last month to discuss missing tutorials and courses. If you think/have the time to pick up one it would be great. The format should be similar to other tutorials, following a learn by doing style. https://github.com/codebar/tutorials/issues?state=open
@despo, I'm happy to take a look at this issue. I'll try out installing the gSchool tables in sqlite, and create the answers to some of the exercises. I can create some headers for a tutorial, and write some instructions, but I'll welcome some assistance in making the text sound as friendly and interesting as the existing codebar tutorials!
Hey guys, I'm new here. I'd like to attend the next event as a coach, but I've had a slight concerns. I've worked as a developer in London for a year or so, therefore I'm not really confided about if my skills in the language would be enough to lead other person towards improving her skills. I've been programming for almost 20 years, so I'm merely worrying about my English. But, I must say that I have a huge motivation to help other people to get better at programming. What are your thoughts on this?
@vbence86 judging from your message your English is just fine :) And if you have been programming for 20 years I’m sure you have plenty of knowledge to share. Many of the codebar students have just a little coding experience or even none at all: I’ve done the introduction to HTML a few times already. Just register as a coach, wait for the invitation to one of the events, come along and see whether you like it.
@vbence86 agree with what @fanaugen said. If you want to just come to one of the workshops and see how things are first, you are also more than welcome.
Thanks guys for the encouragement, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.
ooh, a Discuss! Should make the Gitter obsolete, right? Except for discussions specific to the git repo, possibly
lets see how it goes, i do like the simplicity of being able to just ask something that may not necessarily fit within a forum
@despo nice work :+1:
thank you but its up due to @geopolitis hard work!
in which case @geopolitis nice work
I will email this out soon, but it would be great if you could sign up at discuss.codebar.io so you are eventually able to respond/direct student questions there
Hi there, I've just signed up and looking forward to meeting you on Wednesday to do the tutorials on Git. I've created the Git Hub account. I used upper case in my username: CarolinaS, that means that now I have this address: https://github.com/CarolinaS/thursday.git. Will that work or do I have to change the name to be all lower case? I know that with PHP some paths have to be all with lower case. Thanks a lot!
