    Due to the snow day, my school retreat was rescheduled for Tues-Thurs so I will be missing class (very frustrating).
    Is there a way to get the assignment dates on Canvas updated so I can keep track of what to do first, second, third, etc...?
    I should have put quotes around snow day....it was icy...and not even very icy in my area :-(

    Is the weather really that bad down there?

    @all On that note, I’ll be back in PDX Wednesday-Thursday. How is everyone doing? Please share any questions, concerns, epiphanies, and findings with us, and the class. This is a collaborative environment. :-)

    I didn't think it was too bad. Although I live out west. It could be different downtown. So class really is cancelled tonight?

    @wifelette
    I didn't see that anywhere... Did I miss something?
    I thought just the lab was cancelled last week.

    Well, that's why I'm checking. Seems strange, but there's a new discussion that was updated at ~5:30 this evening: https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/892166/discussion_topics/2858771

    @wifelette
    Hmm.
    That seems strange.
    It's clearly referencing the lab... I wonder if it's some bug where Ivan just fixed a typo or something and it updated the date?
    There's really nothing wrong with the weather here :p

    Right...
    That must be it

    Question about CSS vs JQuery. Are there any differences in performance or flexibility with the transitions, animations, and interactions of CSS vs JQuery? Both have a hover function you can customize, why use JQuery over CSS in that instance?
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    it’s device dependent. Some mobile browsers are slower at CSS than JavaScript actually
    matt
    @mechlo
    So JS over CSS on mobile platforms for example?
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    for hover specifically, jQuery is going to give you more flexibility, because you can run JavaScript instead of limited to CSS animations
    It’s not a simple yes/no answer, you have to dive pretty deep into the actual use case and user profile
    matt
    @mechlo
    Makes sense.
    Thanks.

    @all It appears I may not be down there for class tonight. I’m dealing with a plumbing leak in my apartment that is seriously no bueno. If I can get this resolved by 4, I’ll try to make it. If not, then I’ll see everyone tomorrow during lab time.

    The front door is locked, FYI.
    There's something jammed in there for now, but if it gets moved you may need to catch someone's attention...
