    @all I'm in the middle of cleaning up a huge mess and moving to a different apartment. I'd be a serious jerk if I left my girlfriend to do this herself. I won't be down there for lab tonight. I will see all you guys next Wednesday for the final class. I'm very sorry.

    Hey all, I just got this notice from tuts+ about their upcoming cyber Monday deal. I really liked their sublime text videos, so I was going to look into some of their others. @tsongas or @ivanoats, do you have any others you'd recommend? http://tutsplus.com/cyber_monday

    I find myself circling the same two errors in my code. Is it bad to ask someone else to take a peek to offer insight? I'd consider myself a fairly big newb & the code is a mess---I'm just trying to get something that runs before enhancing it with textboxes or CSS
    It is either "Unexpected end of input" on line 1 or "Unexpected token" of a semicolon on the very last line of my code

    @PolishZeus
    FIXED IT!!!WOOOOOOOT!
    It doesn't do anything...but at least I'm not returning errors happy dance

    @sfasano you might check out the courses in their javascript bundle http://tutsplus.com/bundles/javascript-web-app-launchpad.

    @preetdha and everyone else class 4 and 6 slide decks are now up in Canvas under Files (no class 5 slides).
    Chris Tsongas
    @tsongas
    @OhYeahPortland you'll find that in the class 6 slide deck. I also posted links to examples from class in the Canvas discussions about class 4 and 6.

    I’m grading assignments today and have suggested a free Code School course to a few of you. I found it really helpful in learning jQuery https://www.codeschool.com/courses/try-jquery

    Here’s another handy resource that diagrams which HTML5 elements to use, if you get confused. http://html5doctor.com/downloads/h5d-sectioning-flowchart.png

    @bhrach or another TA, I'm having trouble with some code. Could you take a look and either provide some feedback now or during class? I've included my issue in the comment on the gist. Thanks. https://gist.github.com/sfasano/82a3701b70e86478cc19

    @ivanoats
    @sfasano I am looking into it. I am getting a syntax error when you load the page, is that happening for you and is that the issue you are experiencing?
    Stephen Fasano
    @sfasano
    @ivanoats That's likely my fault. I tried merging 3 files into 1 html file inorder to consolidate, and never tested it to make sure it ran.
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    looks like you’re missing an opening html tag too
    what error or behavior are you trying to fix?
    paste your js into jshint.com - you’ll see some warnings about unmatched {
    that’s probably the syntax error
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    there’s a reason jshint says always to use “!==“ instead of “!=“
    Stephen Fasano
    @sfasano
    My issue is mainly summarized by this....

    $('.first').click(function() {
    alert("made it to 1");
    $(this).addClass("second").removeClass("first");

    });

    $('.second').click(function() {
    alert("made it to 2");

    } );

    I want to get two different alerts each time the button is clicked, but instead it runs the first alert twice.
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    right - it comes down to line 67
    Stephen Fasano
    @sfasano
    @ivanoats , I rewrote this issue in it's stripped down form without the "!=" syntax. Hopefully we can take a look during class. https://gist.github.com/sfasano/82a3701b70e86478cc19

    It is my fault that I'm asking this late (laptop wasn't working in class & Wed I was obsessed with coding & didn't leave enough time):
    Trying to work with my project from the command line. Got it published, made a branch, etc etc etc...I'm now at the part where I need to run the command 'git clone' but it's saying that 'git' is not recognized as an internal or external command
    What might I be missing?
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    @PolishZeus it sounds like you don’t have git installed, or in your path. What OS are you on?
    Mike (Mikey) Bedney
    @PolishZeus
    Windows 7. Was there a step I missed from the following?:

    Unrelated question:
    I have a folder above the main directory of my html, css & js files that is called "images". I am trying to get the CSS to display the pictures where the HTML div id is shown (girl1). When I run the code, it cannot find the image. I've verified that the picture is .jpg but think that there is something fundamental that I'm not understanding. Any input?
    I'd include screenshots but I'm not sure how to get that into this chat (though it is clearly possible)
    Mike (Mikey) Bedney
    @PolishZeus
    Kk...found the image (network log helped).
    Now just gotten figure out what I need to add to CSS so it won't be invisible. I'm trying out ideas relating to setting the width, pixels (which I'd like to match the original image size), & other ideas....
    Ivan Storck
    @ivanoats
    @PolishZeus you have to install git and run git bash from the start menu https://www.dropbox.com/s/cyjaqd1fkbc3m2a/Screenshot%202014-11-28%2020.53.52.png?dl=0

    Does the final project require us to actually use the algorithm we're visualizing, or can we simply step the viewer through the logic using animations and a default example? I'm finding it difficult to pause the algorithm as it runs, but could very easily walk the viewer through a step by step visualization/animation of the logic.
