@toastynerd More than a macro!
Tyler Morgan
@toastynerd
fuck that looks like something I don’t want to read
Kevin Stephens
@kevinmstephens
Does the SQL confuse your brain? Haha.
OK, we are even on snarky comments.
Tyler Morgan
@toastynerd
lol
I’ve actually never worked with sql functions
never really had a need for them
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
hello developers - when you're using Foundation and SASS, do you use Compass for animations/interactivity? or another library?
Brook Riggio
@brookr
jQuery?
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
what is this jQuery of which you speak ;-) thanks
Brook Riggio
@brookr
[: Look here, under Effects: http://oscarotero.com/jquery/
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
woah - that's a great reference - thanks again
Stephen Boles
@stephenboles
@KuroFluff Definitely apply.
In fact, if you are breathing, have any entrepreneurial ambition in your body, and like to network with awesome people, apply.
Plus, we will have hors dourves during the demo night on September 3rd, 2014. ALL FOR FREE.
So, seriously, what are you waiting for.
:)
Brook Riggio
@brookr
@stephenboles, would you like to invite my Foundations bootcamp students as well?
They’ve done just 4 weeks of html/css/js, but are making cool shit already: https://gitter.im/codefellows/sea-b26-foundations
@stephenboles Better yet, maybe email, since the chat room is cfbot-abuse. [:
@stephenboles Better yet, I’ll email the class with the message sent to alumni.
Stephen Boles
@stephenboles
@brookr Absolutely...send them my way.
Brook Riggio
@brookr
Yup, done!
Tyler Morgan
@toastynerd
@dcorns glad to see you got it working, I’ll have to try it out sometime this week.
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
hey y'all does anyone have the responsive design example from class?
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
I've had to use responsive design a lot actually, but I just Googled it
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
nice - did you come up with any cool resources
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
Hmm, well Skeleton has a lot of stuff for responsive design but it ended up not being what I needed for this website
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
what did you end up going with
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
I just used a bunch of
@media only screen and (min-width: 480px) and (max-width: 767px) {
    .this-is-a-class { background : stuff}
}
Just got Jekyll running on Heroku about 10 minutes ago to discover many of my pages are actually terrible on mobile because I set some absolute sizes on images... but that just shows it pays to test on actual devices (it looked good on all browser widths)
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
cool, so just throwing in what you needed sans framework
yikes - well, hopefully it's not too much work to fix it
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
Skeleton is kind of a css framework, I guess?
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
yeah for sure
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
It's like the responsive-design part of bootstrap
It won't be too hard I think.
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
I've got to throw a couple responsive examples at this client, but nothing I made in class achieved that
Kyle Warbis
@UWarbs
Make a simple page with a normal header, then make the header turn to an accordian at a mobile size @mediaquery.
clients love that shit
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
oh good one - definitely throwing that in there
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
Mine is a hamburger symbol with a pop-out menu, but an accordion would be neat.
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
that sounds pretty cool too, shoot me a link when it's in action
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
I do have the responsive design example from class actually.
Not sure if it's hidden somewhere in the JS github page but here's my clone https://github.com/AndyCErnst/responsive-test
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
Thanks man!
Chelsea Lura
@ChelseaLura
@Talamantez I can't seem to find the slides in my backlog either; however you may want to try contacting: @ElliotChong, since he gave the lecture and likely still has the slides somewhere
Also I was working on tackling the Bootstrap Grid system last week and really liked this article I found: http://www.helloerik.com/the-subtle-magic-behind-why-the-bootstrap-3-grid-works
