Head First Java. It's a book. I highly recommend it.
As for online, http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/ although I'm not sure it's the best when learning from the beginning.

Just read this on a job posting "Minimum 3 years practical experience with 2-3 JS front-end frameworks (AngularJS, Backbone, Ember, React, etc.)"
Which, as you know, is impossible

hi, which websites do you often go to find freelancer or remote working job?
Zach
@ZachBowman
I've found a couple good clients on odesk.com. There's also freelancer.com and elance.com, but I haven't used them much yet.

Anyone have any experience with creating a csv upload that then updates a mongo db? Client wants to take csv from archaic POS system and use it to update offerings online. POS will not output anything other than a excel or csv file. Need to add an upload field to the admin interface and then have that csv update/create the db.

@AndyCErnst
I'm doing some work with csv files in Java, but I'm just doing string.split(",") and pulling out what I need (with some error checking)
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
you can use mongoimport to import a csv into mongodb http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/program/mongoimport/
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
for a cut I would be happy to work on this
Nicholas Harberg
@harberg
thanks @Talamantez . I would love to work with you, but this is a hobby project for a friend. If you want to get paid in comics, D&D books, and magic cards then we should talk.
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
i would be happy to be paid in action comics #1!

@Talamantez What was the name of the headset you used for mind control? Also, did you do a write up about your copter? If so, could I have the link?
Chelsea Lura
@ChelseaLura
http://gionkunz.github.io/chartist-js/ Not sure if anyone saw this yet, but I found this awesome JS library for making easy responsive charts and graphs. Looks simpler than D3 and has cool animations. For everyone that made responsive charts/graphs for their final code fellows project- I wish we had this at that time.
Ivan Storck
@ivanoats
@channel - what would you think about combining with other JS classes in a #cf-javascript channel?
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
@harberg the headsets we have are from the Matel Mindflex game, and we also have used the Neurosky Mindwave bluetooth headset. They work about the same way. I don't have a complete write-up, but there's a lot of info at github.com/thinkcopter. If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer!
Nicholas Harberg
@harberg
Thanks @Talamantez A buddy of mine just got his first drone and I wanted to show him some of the stuff you had done.
Robert Talamantez
@Talamantez
@harberg cool deal. If your friend wants to contact me directly, it's cool. Also - @ZBryan, @aisapatino, and @dcorns are experts now and they're in town. @ZBryan also has a drone

Chelsea Lura
@ChelseaLura

@jeffadelman8
@stephenboles I am as well. I keep having great interviews where companies say how much they love me and how perfect I am for their company but they "don't have the personnel to hire me right now." :-/ Which I think means they want me to be a Senior Dev and I'm obviously not.
Andy Ernst
@AndyCErnst
@stephenboles actually scratch that. I just got an offer. I may have a job by week's end. Having Java really helped.
Dale Corns

I'm usually the first person in the office by about an hour
Hailey L. Petway
@hlpetway
Most of the people in my office crawl in at about 9:30
I guess it's all relative
Kevin Stephens
@kevinmstephens
Everyone leaves before me too I think I'm the only one that actually works 40 hours a week
