    it looks like admin registered some new hygrometer data, but it's now showing up in the api for some reason
    Ben Friedland
    @BFriedland
    Found the hygrometer -- it's actually atom #12
    However, I also discovered something weird about how we implemented the URLs. When you're looking at an atom, the device_pk in the URL can be any number at all, because atoms are looked up only by the atom_pk.
    The Beaglebone device has a primary key of 3. If we wanted to look at the device rather than its atoms, we'd check:
    http://ec2-54-148-194-170.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/devices/3/
    Ben Friedland
    @BFriedland
    It isn't really a bug since it doesn't hinder anything or create unwanted results.
    Ben Friedland
    @BFriedland
    Another detail... On the version of the API that is currently running on the AWS instance, anyone who is logged in can view the hygrometer data with the ".../atom/12/current/" link and the device page with the ".../devices/3/" link.
    User NotABoa can't see it in ".../devices/" (though user Jason can), and user Jason can't see the weather monitor in ".../devices/" (though user NotABoa can). That part is intended.

    Did anyone leave their Mac charger? Ben found one as he was packing up, and we think it may be @miracode. Because we weren't certain who it belonged to (or was here before we got here), Ben is taking it to the first floor to leave with Karin.

    OK, controller reproduction on the front end is fixed, current master is up on AWS, debug is turned off
    Does anyone want to point DNS at it? (We'd have to change some settings if so, but that shouldn't be too hard)
    Casey MacPhee
    @caseymacphee
    @jbbrokaw did you switch aws instances?

    Not sure how long this Gitter might be a good way to communicate. I noticed @markableidinger @miracode @BFriedland and I are signed up for the PuPy meetup next week, and I also noticed that they had put out a call on November 20th for lightning talks. I'm wondering if we can put together a five minute presentation on RPiHaus. Check out the meetup page for the invitation. http://www.meetup.com/PuPy-Puget-Sound-Python-pronounced-puppy/events/216007032/?fromEmail=216007032&rv=me1

    Can anyone explain to me what reservations are in EC2? Specifically, what is the relationship between reservations and instances?
    Michelle Rascati
    @miracode
    not sure charlie ... but I did want to post this cool resource i saw on r/python http://inventwithpython.com/bookshelf/

    here is a cool open source project on github that is similar to HAUS written in python 3 https://github.com/balloob/home-assistant

    @charlieRode Reserved EC2 instances involve paying Amazon up front or committing to buying so much computing power up front for a reduced rate. It's a way for Amazon to help smooth out demand and help with their capacity planning.

    @markableidinger and @caseymacphee : I just found some email from Don Sheu which says to email dusty@buchuki.com if you're interested in giving a short presentation. Do we need practice? Is anyone else in?
    Charles Gust
    @CharlesGust
    (To clarify, I haven't emailed Dusty)
    Casey MacPhee
    @caseymacphee
    @CharlesGust will you email him? I think it’s a good idea to give it a quick pitch tonight, and point people to the code base. Maybe we can recruit some more contributors. I have a hard time keeping it short, I’d rather one of you guys do it so we can really keep it like lightning :)

    Nice job presenters! Here’s a project called OpenHab which I mentioned to some of you. It utilizes a java front end for mobile apps tied to their api - it looks pretty cool, and thought I’d share it - http://www.openhab.org/index.html

    @BFriedland
    Does anyone think it might be a good idea to give the RPi demo server's AWS instance a decent domain name? I don't think putting an AWS IP on my resume would be a good idea...
    Mark Ableidinger
    @markableidinger
    I was thinking that exact same thing
    Jason Brokaw
    @jbbrokaw
    haus-devices.com is available. Apparently .haus is a top-level domain, so <something>.haus is possible. What were you thinking of calling it?
    Casey MacPhee
    @caseymacphee
    Why not open it up using * to all so we can each point to it like haus.caseymacphee.com?
    Jason Brokaw
    @jbbrokaw
    That's a good idea. I opened it up to haus.*.com, (e.g., haus.jasonbrokaw.com). I can add other domains if anyone wants to call it something else.

    @markableidinger
    Hey everybody! So I've been interviewing with Tarah (the CEO of Fizzmint who spoke at PuPPy last week) and she's interested in interviewing people with Django skills. Which would include all of you. She told me to give you all her email if you're interested in applying for a part-time contract: tarah@fizzmint.com
    Michelle Rascati
    @miracode
    Thanks Mark! I was just looking into fizzmint yesterday :)
