    I was reading it as persistence.

    I created a var image = UIImage? in my person class. I don't know what data persistence means... I'm looking it up now.
    John Leonard
    @cwnidog
    Randy, persistance mean that data stays when the app is turned off - so when you turn it back on it’s like you never left. In effect, once you set a student’s image, it stays set until you change it. Until the end of time, or you lose your iPhone, whichever comes first. I think it should be var image: UIImage? in your person class declaration, colon instead of equals, you’re just defining, not assigning, in the declaration. The assignment should be in your imagePickerController().

    Good call, I'll fire up the laptop and check how I have it set.
    Ryan Christensen
    @randhyllcho
    I have it set up as var image: UIImage? So that isn't the problem then...
    John Leonard
    @cwnidog
    Randy, there’s not really a problem. Losing the image when you move back to the tableView is because of the lack of persistence. The lack of persistence is because we haven’t added any code that stores the image in persistent storage. My code works exactly the same way as you describe yours. I take a photo, it shows in the viewImage but when I go back to tableImage, I lose it. I suspect we’re about to learn about NSUserDefaults next week. That will allow for persistent storage.

    Ooops, sorry - make “Randy” “Ryan” instead. I assumed too much.

    @FrizzellC
    I am not getting any errors on the lines of my code, but the following error keeps popping up: initializer requirement 'init(coder:)' can only be satisfied by a required initializer in non-final class 'DetailViewController' Where do I fix this ?
    Chantel Frizzell
    @FrizzellC
    Never mind. Got it working
    Ryan Christensen
    @randhyllcho
    Does anyone remember how to return an edited name back to the tableView?
    codeCaster
    @EricMentele
    Not I. That was something Brian figured out how to do.
    Brian Ledbetter
    @BrianL3
    just pass the Person as a reference from ViewController when in segue. Any changes made to the person being edited will then be reflected in the table. Make sure you redraw the table, or the changes won't be reflected.
    Ryan Christensen
    @randhyllcho
    The part that I can't remember is how to redraw the table.
    bradleypj823
    @bradleypj823
    the method you are looking for is called reloadData
    search for it in the documentation

    Awesome. Thanks all.

    So, if there's a down side to becoming a software developer, it's the dreaded 'CODING' interview. I've managed to avoid them so far, but I think my luck is about to run out and if you're reading this, yours may have too. So,.. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in joining forces to divide and concur the 150 questions covered in the book, "Cracking the Coding Interview" by Gayle Laakmann McDowell.

    @dakoch
    Take a look at the supporting website, http://www.CrackingTheCodingInterview.com and let me know if you're in. This could be a great way to get experience talking and writing on the wall in front of people. Not to mention, if you can explain it to others, you probably understand it well enough to get the job!
    Any questions? Any suggestions?
    dakoch
    @dakoch
    Commitment? 5 mins per question, in front of some friendly faces. Plus the time it takes to prepare.

    a post about auto-generating documentation from your docs using some simple markup. this post has links to Apple's official documentation guidelines as well.
    @param [param] [Description]: Describes what value should be passed for this parameter
    @return [Description]: Describes the return value of the method
    @see [selector]: Provide "see also" reference to related method
    @warning [description]: Call out exceptional or potentially dangerous behavior
    stuff like that ^^

    I just got it a few minutes ago Brad, were there any changes from when you first posted? Or, is this just a notice that it’s there?
    bradleypj823

    To make up for being a bad TA, I'll be at Code Fellows until 9pm on Monday, November 24 if anyone needs help. Give me a heads up in chat if you are, so you won't miss me if I step out for food.

    why won't anything auto complete? Xcode was auto completing like a champ up until yesterday. Not sure if I changed a setting but it's driving me nuts... Any quick fixes?

    @kpham13
    Did you get a SourceKit crash?
    Ryan Christensen
    @randhyllcho
    I think I did in another app. I might have in this one but I'm not sure.
