    You guys should try to isolate the issue and fix it sometimes rather than starting from scratch. It would get impractical when you start over when you have tons of code. Part of your coding journey should be learning to debug

    Andrew, my best advice is to make sure that your outlets and IBActions are good and then look for typos. When you’re letting an IDE do autocompletion, it’s very easy to call a method that looks alot like what you intended, but may have a slightly different name or take slightly different parameters.

    I haven't deleted everything yet, so I'm definitely gonna try converting instead of restarting first. I'm talking about adding the UIImage for the person's icon photo, and the labels for their name and student/teacher status.

    Like, I got this weird thing going on where my old cells are underneath my new custom cells, which only show up when you click on the cell. And then the label and UIImage just show up on top of the existing text from the old cells.

    Hi Andrew, that makes me wonder - have you got your cell identified as being an instance of teh Custom Class PersonTableViewCell yet instead of a plain UITableViewCell in its Identity Inspector? That might be a source of schizophrenia. As you say, you haven’t made all your changes yet, so you’re in kind of a transition state if you try to run.

    I just did that and got all my outlets connected, yeah. Now I'm proofreading my view controller's code to make sure I'm not missing any changes I need to make.

    Cool, just the way to do it. BTW - testing and debugging was what I always got the biggest charge out of. It’s a reall pain in the nether regions, but when you’ve got it beaten, it gives areal sense of accomplishment.

    Definitely! I'm getting closer. Having the sample code helps, since I felt like the last class went a bit fast for me.
    But now I'm seeing how things are connecting a bit better.

    Don’t feel strange - they all went a bit fast for me. But I was almost always able to figure it out after reading the slides a second time and paying attention to what I was doing with the sample code. But I remember missing one vital detail on the storyboard and Brad had to show me just what he did. The storyboard doesn’t leave much in the way of tracks.

    Here’s a quick tip for your future into coding. I’ve noticed early off, that I assumed the TAs and instructors knew what I was talking about and the problem I faced, and that made getting help more difficult.
    Asking good questions:
    0a. Attempt the problem
    0b. Google it
    0c. If it takes you longer than 30-60 minutes, ask for help.
    1. Explain the project and what it does
    2. What is the expected outcome.
    3. What is the unexpected behavior.
    4. Where is the error, #line (if applicable)

    Use the same approach if you ever dare post a question on Stack Overflow. I don’t think anyone would ever bash you for asking good questions, you’ll get thrashed for asking poor questions, or they’ll constantly ask you to clarify.

    On udemy looking for an intermediat iOS8 tutorial. Interesting that they seem to think that I’m trying to design a culvert. I don’t need much software instruction to design a culvert.
    As I scroll through their offereings further, I see they’re offering a way to develop 6-pack abs, as well.

    For those of you who went through the iOS8/Swift Fundamentals II and will be going on to the iOS8/Swift Dev Accelerator, I suggest that you take a look at Chris Ching’s udemy course to review and keep your skills up: https://www.udemy.com/how-to-make-an-app/?dtcode=RpG5B6z213mj It goes over most of the same stuff that Brad covered and unlike Brad, you can stop & rewind as many times as you like.
