I feel like the speed of things just went from like, 10 to about 150.
There is a lot of new material in these two chapters and I'm preeeetty lost. yeah. :)

Chapter 7 is actually calming me down from the angst I built up reading chapter 6 yesterday.

Yeah, chapter 5 initially shows you how to apply the things in chapter 6, but chapter 5 is made obsolete by chapter 7, so its a bit reversed
Should have advised to read 7 then 6 maybe

I didn't read 5 at all. I read 6 but all the fallback code stuff was terrifying. But then, jQuery. I just told my friend to read all of chapter 6 but not labor over any of it and definitely not worry about it because jQ.

Yeah, we skipped 5 because jQuery essentially replaces it
