Yes, go ahead

Jun 09 2015 13:44
Ok :)
Also, about a suggestion you made a while ago
(merging into release incrementally and not all at once)
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s

Let's start doing that after this release :)
Daniel Huigens
@twiss

Alright!

@twiss check #310
Daniel Huigens
@twiss

I will
Daniel Huigens

So... apparently window.opener is null
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 16:10
Where?
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 16:10
In the Dropbox popup
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 16:10
That's odd. How are you running it?
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 16:14
In the Firefox desktop web app runtime. window.open() is also null and the origin field also doesn't appear to work
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 16:15
sigh
Any ways that we could fix that?
No idea
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 16:19
Does it work in desktop browsers though?
I guess we can't support desktop apps atm without this working :(
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 17:07
I think the origin thing might fix itself when you actually install the app from the marketplace
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 17:10
Uhm, does that work?
It's deprecated
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 17:15
It does create a window, but passing stuff back to the opener doesn't seem to work, maybe because of cross-origin.
What about creating an iframe instead of a popup?
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 17:16
A pseudo popup would work
Just a regular iframe or a mozbrowser iframe?
I think we should check to see if popups work first though
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 17:17
Just a regular one, we can't create mozbrowser frames
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 17:17
Does dropbox allow itself to be shown in a frame?
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 17:18
Hm, no
But maybe we could create an iframe with a page from our server and redirect back and forth in that
Er, probably won't work either
Well, the only possibility is if showModalDialog does work with same-origin then I think
Or we wait for that mozilla bug to be fixed
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 17:23
showModalDialog would be a short-lived solution (docs say it is to be removed this month)
Daniel Huigens
@twiss
Jun 09 2015 17:40
Well, let's just wait for that window.open() bug then
Joshua Smith
@joshua-s
Jun 09 2015 17:46
ok
