    I'm wondering how does stdimage work with ajax upload. Scenario is Heroku+Django+S3 (django-storages)
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    @mpachas I have the same setup. But this has nothing to do with S3. I develped django-s3file
    stdimage works just fine with storages
    The upload part is trick, django-s3file does that for you without any big requirements

    @mpachas
    Well, I really need variations with celery tasks
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    @mpachas that is no problem. You can easyly combine them. s3file is just a widget.
    class MyModel(models.Model):
        image = SdtImageField()
    class MyModelForm(forms.ModelForm):
        class Meta:
            model = MyModel
            widgets = {‘image’: AutoFileInput’}
    The combination of the StdImageField and S3FileInput should help you to build the next Instagram ;)
    Let me know if you find anything missing in the documentation.

    Well I found your work when I was cleaning up my table to start working on celery thumbnail-tasks for my fields, so thanks a lot!!
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    You’re welcome. You’ll find some documentaiton about how to use celery and stdimage as well. We just updated the docs, there were some mistakes.

    Hello, there is a option to compress the img thumb?
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    Hi @oortega. The images are beeinflusst compressed to the default value. Since the latest pillow release, that will give you astonisching quality with a very small file size. Of course you can define your own rendering using the render_variations callable kwarg.
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    From experience I can't recommend to change the default auf 75%. BTW, only JPGs are being compressed that way. That's why we don't support the feature.
    oortega
    @oortega
    thanks for answer, @codingjoe do you have a example for "render_variations callable kwarg".

    Hi!
    I got some odd problems with stdimage + s3
    I keep getting an error " Error parsing the X-Amz-Credential parameter; the region 'us-east-1' is wrong; expecting 'eu-west-1' "
    can I get url to stdimage image without the query parameters "?X-Amz-Credential=AKIAJFD66QEDJBJW7GGQ%2F20151211%2Fus-east-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20151211T164142Z&X-Amz-Signature=5f128f821161ec520e3c9032856ef8a738caadd1cb662bad827b1e2b8900e387&X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=host&X-Amz-Expires=3600" as it work fine without those?
    Oh, this is probably django-storage thing though
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    @jrasanen yes looks that way. You should try to find help there.
    I use S3 in production in multiple apps. It’s probably a config bug.

    @jrasanen
    @codingjoe problem I had was related to this, boto/boto#2741 - moving files to a new bucket on another zone worked
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    @jrasanen ok, so it’s resolved now?
    Jussi Räsänen
    @jrasanen
    Yeah, the problem I had was with some bucket’s in Frankfurt acting up weirdly
    An odd AWS bug, as it worked on all other zones

    Hi! Thanks 4 de 4.0 release! I've been using stdimage but now im switching to Cloudinary in our main project. I will test your new version in another environment,
    Johannes Hoppe
    @codingjoe
    @mpachas cloudinary ist a pretty good tool. I used briefly before myself.
