hello all
is there any option to increase the results that appear under autocomplete fields?

Hi again, With reference to my question of the 28th Sept I have solved the problem of getting my Hierarchy Browser slider bars to default to the top of the list when adding a new object. I added AA to the top of each list and used AA1 etc for the identifier. The item is disabled but included in the list sort. Not very elegant but works ok.

@tsitsibau_twitter Increase in what sense? More of them? Or a broader search to find things?

The limit is hardcoded to 100
You'd have to change the code in app/lib/ca/BaseLookupController.php to change the default
We could expose it as a configuration setting too (one of these days)

So I have this not very beefy server that I can't get Providence installed on, the installation procedure hangs at "processing metadata elements", whatever profile I choose at install
A slightly beefier server (but same version of ubuntu server, 16.04.1) installs without problem.
I've previously tried to increase timeouts, enable logging of PHP errors, but nothing happens. At some point, while "page2" is still loading, the load on the server drops to nothing and aftr a few minutes of that firefox will show "The connection was reset"

So it's probably throwing an error but you can't see the message
Did you try setting display_errors to "on" in php.ini?
the other possibility is that the server is segfaulting

I've tried that before

are you running apache?

Yes, apache is running

Take a look in the Apache error_log and see if there's a segfault logged?
Andreas Sikkema
@ramdyne

No, error_log is clean (apart from the restarts when I upgraded everything)

Ok. So what is the difference between these two machines?

dell poweredge sc1425 vs dell poweredge r200 (all very old)
let's see what happens to the memory during install

non-functioning machine is quad core xeon 3 GHz with 8GB RAM, but so far during install memory is hardly used, swap is unused
server that does install is 2core xeon 3065 @ 2.33GHz with apparently 4 gigs of ram

I've just updated to a new ubuntu version on the misbehaving server, so once the current installation procedure has failed I can retry it with display errors on (new php version means new php ini files)

with display_errors to On, no errors anywhere
I've got wireshark looking at the http traffic and the web development tools of the browser as well, to see if there's anything being sent that is not being displayed, but so far nothing unusual

The last thing received in the HTML is: <script type='text/javascript'>jQuery('#progressbar').progressbar('value',36.307692307692); jQuery('#installerLog').html('Installing list <i>storage_location_sources</i>');</script>

But it looks like there might be an error in the TCP stream which all the tools in the browser seem to miss, but I can find using wireshark. Capture running now (for a clean capture) so I can copy the bytes and paste them here

What???? After trying this for dozens and dozens of times, it now just installs as if nothing was going on.
The only difference was that on previous (failed) attempts I only dropped the database and tried again, this time I also restarted mysql and apache after dropping the table
The error I saw in the TCP stream captured by Wirehark, was that the cache table(? or somethign with acl) already existed, even though I am sure I had dropped the collective access database before
I am not sure I want to try and reproduce this :-) I want to demo collective access tomorrowmorning (CEST)
