    The search syntax is described here: http://docs.collectiveaccess.org/wiki/Search_Syntax
    We are starting a push to create a new set of non-wiki, narrative documentation
    If you have specific questions on search and browse (or anything else really) write them down and send them to us, and we'll try to answer them in these new docs
    or we'll just answer them :-)

    Hi @collectiveaccess, another question before I start compiling a list of queries into one doc (should I send it via the support forum?) Is there a way to export from Browse? E.g. If I want to search for entities with a 'donor' role and then export that to excel.. would be easier for staff to do it like that rather than using a search syntax
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    Send the list to me please (seth@collectiveaccess.org)
    Yes, you can export from browse just the same as from search
    there's an icon on the upper right hand side of the search and browse results that reveals all of the options
    they include export to configured formats with mappings (eg. XML based formats) as well as Excel, Word, TAB, CSV, etc

    No worries. Hmm I don't have any icons on the Browse page, only in Search and Advanced Search..

    I'm trying to configure a display to show a relationship (interstitial) field and I can't figure out how to do this properly. Can you please help?
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    What sort of display is it? And what sort of relationship?
    michalfrankl
    @michalfrankl
    ca_objects_x_objects; It's an object display and I'm trying to format the Related objects field.
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    try ^ca_objects_x_objects.<related_field_code>
    does that not work?
    michalfrankl
    @michalfrankl
    No, that was of course my first try...
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    what field is it?
    michalfrankl
    @michalfrankl
    Remar, it's a field we have defined added to the metadata schema.
    Remark
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    ok
    Does ^ca_objects_x_objects.relation_id display anything?
    michalfrankl
    @michalfrankl
    Yes, it returns the number.
    Strange, I'll check the metadata element and the content again.
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    Do you have any other metadata attributes configured? If so can you try outputting them?

    Hi, we currently have staff trialling our Providence system - users have been able to create sets by selecting searched objects, and then edit & delete via batch editing. However, they are unable to search for those sets back in Object > Search. See the top image in link for example: http://imgur.com/a/Cbfoe - you can see in the bottom image that the set definitely exists. Is there something I've missed in the set up? All elements relating to sets have been checked in Access Control so I'm not sure what the issue is.

    What version is this again? There were bugs around set searches in some versions but this should be fixed now

    by the way, do you know where can i see which installation profile i choose at the beginning of installation?

    @PMassoels Hello

    @juliaweist
    Hi @0ffir_twitter there is no way to see which profile you chose after install. You can download the profile and compare to other available profiles in a text editor application, that's probably the easiest way. If you want to do that go to Manage > Administration > Maintenance > Export configuration and that will download a profile based on your system's current set up.

    Hello. I'm trying to install CollectiveAccess Provenance on Windows 10. I am NOT a programmer and have reached an impass when trying to install Apache. (What do I do after C:/Apache24 has been populated??)
    Also, I feel almost like I'm in a late-night infomercial. "There's got to be a better way!"
    JCA3d
    @JCA3d
    Should the DOS cmd line be C:\Apache24\bin\httpd.exe rather than simply httpd.exe?
    Nowhere was the file path indicated in the help literature online or that came with Apache... Goodness, what a senseless headache!!

    update: so i managed to change it from System>preference, but now im getting "could not load language" on every page... anyone know how to fix this?

    @sterlingjenson
    @JCA3d , while this suggestion is not ideal, you might want to look into WAMP ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/wampserver/ )
    WAMP tends to be slow implementing security fixes which is why this suggestion is probably not the best idea ever; however, if you are running the program only on a local machine/network, it probably should not be a huge issue. (Please correct me if I am wrong.)
    Windows 10 also recently released BASH for Windows (i.e. you can use Ubuntu Linux commands natively within Windows) which might be an alternative, but one I have not tried.

    @JCA3d
    Thank you, @sterlingjenson. I am only planning to run Provenance on my local machine, yes. I believe I have gotten Apache installed and shall continue on. Thanks for your help all the same.
