    Im not sure what the purpose would be to house these two systems in a single providence instance however

    @haseebrahman7
    How do you do collection import?
    Does the system allow administrators to assign passwords?
    Does the system have forgotten password retrieval functionality?
    Does the system integrate with a directory service for user access?
    Does the system allow for definitions of user groups?
    Does the system allow for customization of user profiles?
    Does the system limit access by roles?
    Sophie
    @pinkfishies
    @haseebrahman7 The system supports all these things
    Collection import depends on the format of the data you are trying to ingest, but the system provides multiple options

    Hi all! I'm a newby here. I have an contact with an really old version of Collective Access. Now I am asked to upgrade the whole setup while keeping all information alive etc. I have told them I will do some research on the matter. So, anyone here can point me in a direction. Some tips and ideas? Thnx. @collectiveaccess
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    @kjellpingbull_twitter How old is really old?
    @naeemmuhammad The way containers with unspecified subkeys are returned changed from 1.4 to 1.76. It looks like the API is not respecting that. File a ticket for it and we'll take a look at it.
    @mbutel_twitter Odd. Dimensions output as input for me.

    Units are loaded in CM.
    In providence, prefered Unit of Measurement is "as entered"
    Providence is now 1.7.6, Pawtucket is 2.
    Adding "~units:cm" in the template makes the element disappear from display

    Hi all, I'm trying to use data imports to bring in data from an excel spreadsheet. I'm trying to map the created date of the item to the PB Core item Temporal Coverage (listed as bundle pbcoreDate. I have had no luck trying to find the right CA Table.Element. Has anyone tried to use the PB Core default template and tried to map this?
    Julia
    @juliaweist
    @RurouniDante if you upload your mapping and sample data and we can point out any errors or issues
    Julia
    @juliaweist
    Also, pbcoreDate is a container (unless you customized the PB Core profile) so the format for the mapping would be: ca_objects.pbcoreDate.[subElement] (i.e ca_objects.pbcoreDate.pbcoreDates_value) or ca_occurrences.pbcoreDate.[subElement] depending on how you're using it
    RurouniDante
    @RurouniDante
    Hi Julia, I think that was exactly what I was looking for! I'll play around with it and let you know if its good! I definitely may need more help with it down the road.
    RurouniDante
    @RurouniDante
    @juliaweist OK, so I just tried it on my sample and it didn't seem to work. So I definitely have a bad code somewhere. Would you prefer for me to make a thread on the forum with the attachments and go from there?
    Julia
    @juliaweist
    @RurouniDante yes and please also include your profile
    RurouniDante
    @RurouniDante

    I have some CONTENT ACCESS (END USER EXPERIENCE) questions...
    Does the system limit access at the file/object level?
    Does the system limit access at the collection level?
    Does the system allow credential-based user sign in? (directory service)
    Does the system allow IP source address filtering?
    Does the system allow proxy filtering?

    Hi, Providence has a monitor.conf file with an option to enable logging of slow queries. Can someone tell me the location of the log file when monitoring enabled? Thanks.
    Sophie
    @pinkfishies
    @haseebrahman7 Yes but you would need to code your front-end views to adhere to any custom access restrictions you want to implement, assuming you are asking about Pawtucket
    haseebrahman7
    @haseebrahman7
    Does the system meet WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards?
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    @naeemmuhammad There is no log file. It outputs to a panel in the footer in some themes. It hasn't been used in some time and likely will be removed in future versions.

    Hi all! its possible to edit the image description (menu logo.png PNG; 2040p x 760p; 8 bpp; 0.17mb)? I want to push a litle down. Thanks!
    bowbot
    @bowbot_twitter
    @bzotivla Create a custom theme by duplicating ‘default’ in the themes folder and then edit the CSS.
    Is anyone working with Chenhall’s Nomenclature? I am migrating a collection from a custom database into CA and it has a subset of Chenhall. From a maintenance perspective is it better to import the whole set?
    Julia
    @juliaweist
    @bowbot_twitter - it depends on future plans for the system. If it's limited in scope you might get away with the subset, but if future cataloging will require a good portion of the vocabulary you might as well import it all

    @julian_boolean_twitter
    hi all, we're having some problems displaying our cross-table hierarchy in a display. our objects are within a collection or series, and then in a folder (object). we want it to display something like Collection Preferred Label > File Preferred Label > Object Preferred Label. The only thing we haven't managed to get correct is the collection preferred label <H5>{{{<unit relativeTo="ca_collections.related" delimiter="<br/>"><l>ca_collections.related.preferred_labels.name</l></unit> ➔}}} {{{<ifcount code="ca_objects.parent" min="1"><unit relativeTo="ca_objects.parent"><l>^ca_objects.preferred_labels.name</l></unit> ➔ </ifcount>}}}{{{^ca_objects.preferred_labels.name}}}</H5>
    Julian
    @julian_boolean_twitter
    to follow up on my display question, for those having similar problems, it was correct, we just forgot to set the collection to public!!! not the first time, nor will it be the last. >.> thanks anyway!!
    Julian
    @julian_boolean_twitter
    actually, that was only one of the issues, we're still not having collection parents show up if we use the ca_objects.hierarchy display options. any ideas?
    Sophie
    @pinkfishies
    @julian_boolean_twitter ca_objects.hierarchy will only display objects that have a hierarchical relationship to eachother
    Can you let us know which part of the output is not working correctly?
    Julian
    @julian_boolean_twitter
    @pinkfishies Hi! that makes sense. we're trying to get the whole hierarchy to show, so Collection > Object > Object. it looks like object hierarchies show fine, such as Object > Object, but it's missing the top level collection.

    @bowbot_twitter
    Is there a way to batch import media representations of objects that is not named for the idno or do I need to rename the files to the idno? Can I associate media with an object IDNO after import?
    DUG1138
    @DUG1138
    I think I may have found a bug in representation_viewer_html.php. I'm new to CollectiveAccess... Can someone please give me a hand? I've got an Object, The Media of which is a Video file (mp4). I've added two Annotations to the Media with Start and Stop times. When I view the Media in the Providence editor, the annotations display and work as expected, jumping to the Start time and playing until the Stop time. However, when I view the Object in Pawtucket2, although the Annotations are listed, the Times are set to "0.0s". Help?
    Julia
    @juliaweist
    @bowbot_twitter - there are some options in app.conf for batch media import matching. We support Perl-compatible regular expressions for "mediaFilenameReplacements" and also a config to list CA fields for matching ("batch_media_import_match_on")
    bowbot
    @bowbot_twitter
    @juliaweist Thanks for the tip! A specific example would be the accession number 1998.18.08 has a media represenation named 0101758000137_2132008P.jpg . Could I import the filename into an object record field called ‘representation_file_name’ in the 1998.18.08 record and then set up the follwing in app.conf
    batch_media_import_match_on = [representation_file_name] ?
    sterlingjenson
    @sterlingjenson
    @bowbot_twitter -- does the name for JPG mean anything? Could you do a bulk rename of the images first, then upload the files? I know Windows 10 and Ubuntu with Gnome will allow you to setup a renaming scheme easily.
    bowbot
    @bowbot_twitter
    @sterlingjenson Yes—I could do that—I use better file renamer—MacOS and Windows. You can script changing name to accession number really easily.
    @sterlingjenson I am trying to future proof the import—they may not have those tools.
    sterlingjenson
    @sterlingjenson
    ah, I see. I missunderstood the question
    Julia
    @juliaweist
    @bowbot_twitter yes
    Sophie
    @pinkfishies
    @julian_boolean_twitter In your example I think you want {{{<unit relativeTo="ca_collections" delimiter="<br/>"><l>^ca_collections.preferred_labels</l></unit> ➔}}} assuming you are in an object context
