    I'm not sure. People use it to store born digital objects, just not sure if anyone else does purely that.

    Hi, does anyone who describes artworks have already used a treatment model that creates a hierarchical-relationship between work and part of the work (components)? This seems to bring a complexity of treatment, has anyone ever tried something like that?

    @CariTheKitty I’m the ED of https://hitsave.org, I would love to see what you do with your setup for game preservation!
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    @bib_mais_twitter Yes. It's used often in art collections.

    @CariTheKitty Yes, there are archives with just born-digital material. The metadata changes a bit, but otherwise it's the same as any other sort of archive.
    There are standards for digital preservation you'll likely want to follow though

    Hello there,
    I'm new to Collective Access and wanted to know a one thing. Reaching out for help here because I personally found the documentation a bit confusing to start out with. Maybe this has been asked before but it would be great if anyone could help me with it again.

    Is it possible to upload images in the CA using links from other websites? We actually intend to aggregate open access images from various other collections. So is it possible to do that using like an Excel sheet or a CSV? Uploading individual images would be a quite cumbersome for us with the volume we intend to work with. Appreciate any inputs in this regard.

    @collectiveaccess
    Yes you can add urls providing the allow_fetching_of_media_from_remote_urls option is app.conf is set
    These can be directly entered into the user interface or be imported as part of the metadata import

    Oh, that sounds great! Before I elaborate on that point, I had another question. While deploying the final website - what is a good way to go about that. Do it on our own server or publish it on something like GitHub pages?

    Hey all, in app.conf, is there a specific format to separate the widget codes for the Dashboard? I have columns = { 1 = [clock count randomObject], for example, but none of the widgets come out. Just thought to ask here before trying something else and having to reload my system again without knowing whether it'll work

    jk, figured it out, sorry all!

    Hello, I want to set up a hierarchy for object lots, but have found that they seem to be the one of the few primary tables that doesn't have hierarchy navigation bundle. Is there any reason for this? And is there a way around it? Thanks.

    Hi there! I noticed that Pawtucket comes with Bootstrap 3 included.
    is there a way to update it to Bootstrap 5?
    Infra|Red
    @InfraRed:matrix.org
    [m]
    @joaquinodz: It's not as simple as just updating it. There are a lot of differences between 3 and 5 and lots of code would need to be rewritten to accommodate that.
    Joaquín
    @joaquinodz
    Hay all!
    Is there a function or does someone have a code snippet to print in php all the information of a given object? (relationships, etc..)?
    Jeff Schneider
    @jjs6791
    @joaquinodz not sure about doing it via php but you can use the API to return JSON https://docs.collectiveaccess.org/wiki/Web_Service_API#Getting_a_generic_summary

    @Jen-Sha
    Hello, just following up on the question I asked the other day about hierarchies for object lots. Thanks.
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    @Jen-Sha Hierarchical lots are not supported. It doesn't make sense for their intended use to arrange them hierarchically
    @joaquinodz As @InfraRed:matrix.org said, it's not an upgrade, it's a rewrite. If you'd want to work with us on that it could happen. But it's definitely work.
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    @eothistory_twitter It did last I checked.
    Jen-Sha
    @Jen-Sha
    @collectiveaccess Then I must be misunderstanding something fundamental about their intended use, as I cannot think of a better solution to my current issue. For context, the vast majority of the acquisitions for the collection I work for are via auctions. Multiple lots can be purchased in a single auction. If I enter each lot as a purchase, I am going to end up with a lot of duplicated information, and if I enter the whole auction in a single purchase it becomes difficult to clearly identify and reference each lot. For this reason I want to be able to create a parent purchase record with all the shared info, and then a child record for each lot. If this approach is wrong, what am I missing about the intended use of lots? Is there another approach you can recommend that would avoid the duplication of information whilst keeping the data neat?

    hey @CariTheKitty . You could try a browser high contrast plugin that switches the contrast (white becomes black and vice versa)
    CariTheKitty
    @CariTheKitty
    that's a thought.
    Just installed pawtucket2, not seeing any public records. now to find where that's set.
    Infra|Red
    @InfraRed:matrix.org
    [m]
    You might need to reindex.
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    Set the access field on the records you want to show up to "public"
    If they show up in the back-end, reindexing is not the issue
    Infra|Red
    @InfraRed:matrix.org
    [m]
    Ah ok.
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    @Jen-Sha Lots are museum lots, not auction lots. They are intended to record the details of acquisition. Every object in the collection has one, and only one, associated lot. An object is acquired once – that's it.
    To track auction sales, consider recording them as occurrences
    If you really want to use lots, and are ok with the 1 object:1 lot restriction we certainly could add hierarchy support for lots. It's not hard; it's just not an option that any one has asked for, and in some cases it might actually (and arguably) be confusing.
    CariTheKitty
    @CariTheKitty
    Thanks for the explanation, pruned that out of my profile. time to glue it back in.
    is there a way for it to default to public?
    CollectiveAccess
    @collectiveaccess
    Yes. There's a list (in list and vocabs) that defines the possible access options. Set the public one to be the default. The list code is "access_statuses"
    CariTheKitty
    @CariTheKitty
    thank you!

    I have a silly question. What is the 'idno' code and more to the point, is it required as a field? I gather that it's some kind of id
    Jen-Sha
    @Jen-Sha
    @collectiveaccess objects for the museum I work for are acquired via auction. What I am recording are purchases, not sales. I understand that an object can have only one associated lot, I'm not trying to assign more than one lot per object. I have realised the error in my thinking though. The lot I want to be the parent isn't actually an acquisition, it's probably better described as the concept of an acquisition. It's all the details of the purchase that except for the acquired items (they would be the child records). I don't think an occurrence would be the solution, what I need is more along the lines of a collection or a set. A concept of an acquisition to parent the group of distinct lots acquired from the one acquisition event.
