@00krishna
Oh yes, this is nice. Easy enough to do. So if the user can install docker CE themselves--with sudo privileges, then the rest is easy with these tools.
Anthony Scopatz
@scopatz
right
And with podman, they might not even need sudo
Krishna Bhogaonker
@00krishna
If podman or sylabs are able to create rootless containers that would be even better. So I have to dig deeper into them to see how they work.
Yes, that is correct.
Anthony Scopatz
@scopatz
Yeah, you got it :wink:
Krishna Bhogaonker
@00krishna
That would be great.
haha. Sympatico. That is my feeling, and not a package :).

@Borda
hi, mind someone help to decode this error message?
https://github.com/conda-forge/pytorch-lightning-feedstock/pull/9#issuecomment-678439336
it is about conda_build.exceptions.DependencyNeedsBuildingError: Unsatisfiable dependencies for platform linux-64
FI
@step21_gitlab
@Borda it means the dep is not available for this platform
To narrow down, install manually in a fresh env and remove packages until it resolves or try mamba (instead of conda) as it sometimes gives more helpful output
FI
@step21_gitlab

@Borda it means the dep is not available for this platform

(so in this case based on the log probably that the right combination of versions is not available)

FI
@step21_gitlab
Or in this case, upon checking, is it possible that pytorch is only available for defaults and not conda-forge? (unless I missed sth when search anaconda.org/using conda/lookign at feedstocks. So ideally pytorch should be built for conda-forge. pytorch-cpu is the closest I could find, but that is prob not what you want
(and if before it was taken from defaults for earlier builts, possibly channel priority is different now?)
Jeremy Sanders
@jeremysanders
Is there more information on what 'osx_is_app: true' does? Should I use this for a PyQt GUI application?
FI
@step21_gitlab
@jeremysanders based on my osx usage, I assume it means you want the app in /Applications and not just in path. However this probably/maybe only makes sense if the app also packages into an *.app bundle
@jeremysanders strike that, googling conda + osx_is_app gives you https://docs.conda.io/projects/conda-build/en/latest/resources/define-metadata.html#python-app
so no, you normally shouldn’t use it
Jirka Borovec
@Borda
@step21_gitlab thx for your advice... it seems that the problem is packaging but not sure how to fix it...
Ryan May
@dopplershift
So it looks like PROJ 7.1, GDAL, and PySide2 is an unsolvable config right now. That was fun to figure out. Still not sure why or what to do about it.
At least on osx
Ryan May
@dopplershift
Ah, icu 67.1 vs 64.1, that's the rub.
(due to Qt 5.12.5)

Hi all, I am trying to add my package to conda-forge and it is giving me these errors, I am stuck at this. Can anyone help me solve this issue

Hi all, is there a way to configure an alternate endpoint for working around the below error:

CondaHTTPError: HTTP 503 SERVICE UNAVAILABLE: BACK-END SERVER IS AT CAPACITY for url <https://conda.anaconda.org/eumetsat/linux-64/repodata.json>

Trying to create a new env from a env yml file.

Having a similar issue during CI

Failed to upload due to ('Service Unavailable: The server cannot process the request due to a high load ([GET] https://api.anaconda.org/dist/cf-staging/ctdopts/1.4/noarch/ctdopts-1.4-pyh9f0ad1d_0.tar.bz2 -> 503)', 503). Trying again in 10 seconds Using STAGING_BINSTAR_TOKEN for anaconda.org uploads to cf-staging.

Should I just wait a bit and try again? And if so how do I restart CI?

Ryan May
@dopplershift
Pretty sure conda.anaconda.org is just having problems at the moment, that's why the 503's. I'm seeing them as well.
Wolf Vollprecht
@wolfv
even anaconda.org returns 503 right now

Can somebody please review conda-forge/staged-recipes#12299 ?
Matthew R. Becker
@beckermr
@/all it appears anaconda.org was down for several hours this morning. Afaict it is back to normal. If you recently merged a pr to master on your feedstock, you may need to make an empty commit to master to retrigger the ci.
Johan Mabille
@JohanMabille
@beckermr does it also apply to newly create feedstock (due to the merge of a PR in staged-recipes) ? The feedstock was created, but the repo is empty
Chris Burr
@chrisburr
@JohanMabille That happens when the staged-recipes CI runs out of API requests. If recipe is still be in staged-recipes it will fix itself next time it runs (I just restarted it)
Johan Mabille
@JohanMabille
oh nice. Thanks!

Are there any plans for future GCC migrations? I have a package which depends on GCC >8.0 and while I can specify the compiler version in the dependencies, there other dependencies are obviously incompatible. Therefore I was wondering if there are any plans for future GCC migrations.
Matthew R. Becker
@beckermr
I think we plan to move to 9.3.0 on all platforms sometime in the future
we have the builds on linux
the only issues are
  1. we don’t have builds of gfortran 9.3.0 on osx
  2. we need to migrate all fortran packages due to a change in the SO version
Mostly these issues are a matter of bandwidth
item 1 above is not a blocker, but if we are doing a migration it probably makes sense to do all platforms at once
instead of having to come back through a second time for osx
*bandwidth above being the time constraints of the core members, mainly @isuruf
if you want to work on these things, I’d be happy to help support you as needed with merges and whatever guidance I can supply
i’d start with the osx gfortran build personally
Matthew R. Becker
@beckermr
both
do the impl one first
and then do the second one
