    Hey Corey, I'd like to help contribute to node-windows
    You can email me if that's easier I never get on here
    dragon788
    @dragon788
    @furyscript when you run under node-windows your service is probably running as SYSTEM which wouldn't have permissions inside a specific user's home directory unless granted
    try copying a file from C:\ or C:\Temp to somewhere else not user specific

    Hello, i have difficult to understant a simple question:
    How can i get a service to stop? An existing service
    Lucas Argate
    @LucasArgate

    like this:

    var serice = Service("name of service");
    serive.stop()

    it is possible ?
    Dario Salvi
    @dariosalviwork
    @dragon788 yes, it's a regular windows service, but I am not allowed to add or remove dependencies. I think that it's a matter of configuration.
    BTW, there may be a workaround (http://serverfault.com/questions/24821/how-to-add-dependency-on-a-windows-service-after-the-service-is-installed), but it would be nicer to have it as a feature
    dragon788
    @dragon788
    good to know @dariosalviwork I think the challenge is if you are depending on another service you need to enumerate the list of services first to ensure it actually exists and then link to it
    is there an issue filed on the GitHub repo to add this feature yet? that'd be a good place to start

    Hi guys, i have use node-windows libs for desktop app (electron freamwork). It working well with elevate method so this not run by admin. I have try for use sudo method but error throw sudoer stop... pls help me thanks
    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @tinvm - I use sudo-prompt within my electron apps. The sudo script I wrote for node-windows wasn't really designed for use with electron.
    Tin Minh
    @tinvm
    @coreybutler Yep i'm using it. So i need display icon and app name in dialog that confirm when run command and sudo-promt not support this. sudo-promt only confirm for cmd. :(
    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @tinvm - I think we're going to need more detail... I'm not entirely clear what the problem is, but using sudo-prompt and the elevate libs simultaneously makes me very suspicious.
    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @tinvm I just saw the issue you logged on Github. I think you're asking how to specify a specific username for the sudo command? If that's the case, the unfortunate answer is you cannot specify a user. The sudo command is used primarily to elevate a user's permissions without prompting them, but this does not work on all versions of Windows (it is particularly problematic on Windows 7). If that's not what you're asking, please clarify.

    Hi everyone, I need to run my node app with extra memory, using the console I can run node --max-old-space-size=4096. Is there a way to tell node-windows to use enough memory for node?
    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @JimmyHodgson - node-windows supports a "flag" attribute (an array, I believe), which was added in PR #76 (https://github.com/coreybutler/node-windows/pull/76/files)
    I don't think it's documented in the README and should be
    (I didn't write that code, so I'm not really that familiar with it)

    hi I am trying to use node-windows to run my react node js project. To start the application I run the below script,
    cross-env VIRTUAL_HOST=127.0.0.1 BABEL_ENV=development babel-node ./webpack/dev-server.js

    What do I run it using node-windows? what will be the entry for script: 'app.js', in install.js

    Hi, I am trying to install a service with node-windows on a Windows Server 2012 with 4.5 .net and nothing happens... Any Idea?
    Jimmy Hodgson
    @JimmyHodgson
    @coreybutler I checked the file on the latest version and the flag attribute has been renamed to nodeOptions which takes a string. Setting that attribute I am able to add more ram to nodejs. Thanks!
    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @JimmyHodgson - Glad you figured it out, and sorry for the misdirection. Feel free to log an issue. Better yet, feel free to submit a PR to the README with the change :-)
    @rodolfoviolac - have you seen https://github.com/coreybutler/node-windows/wiki?

    good morning. Is anyone available for a few mins to help me troubleshoot my node-windows setup?

    @coreybutler is there a way to make node-windows create a windows services with delayed start?

    Hi, is there a way to increase the max log file size that gets created in the daemon folders?

    Anyone tried to get node-windows working with pkg? I just followed the pkg instructions and im getting a weird error like this:

    Error: File 'C:\**\uploader-service\node_modules\node-windows\bin\winsw\winsw.exe' was not included into executable at compilation stage. Please recompile adding it as asset or script.

    I just want my service installer to be a exectuable, so perhaps there is a different way than using pkg. Any ideas?

    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @alexlpze_twitter - not directly. It depends on your use case though... you could launch the app and use a setTimeout to delay the start of processing. The other option is to modify the service after it's created. That's not an out-of-the-box feature though, so you'd have to code that yourself.
    @Taximan - pkg is an alternative to node-windows, not an add-on. If you want a real installer, you should look into something like NSIS or another desktop installer.

    Hey there, just submitted a couple of PRs for some functionality that I needed.
    I'm interested in providing some more edits, but wanted to start with these two.
    e.g., some docs updates, switch from optimize to minimist, standardize on booleans over 'y/n', etc.

    For some reason on my prod box my service "uninstalled" it's self .. trying to re-install via nssm w/ node-windows v0.1.10 and getting this error unexpected status SERVICE_PAUSED in response to START control
    ^anyone got any ideas ?
    Corey Butler
    @coreybutler
    @xzycn - If you're using a UI, use Electron instead
    @stokedbits - no TS. Someone may have done it, but if they did, they never told me.
