    Cool! thanks! Right now, I'm looking at the alternative data source because JHU data is being manually updated and introducing many inconsistencies. This one: https://github.com/yy/covid19-data/tree/master/data_sources/our_world_in_data is (download script: https://github.com/yy/covid19-data/blob/master/sm_owid.smk) from WHO and I should probably use this to update the visualization data (https://github.com/yy/covid19-data/blob/master/output/cntry_stat.json). After that, I hope to have a workflow that can start with WHO and then override with country-level updates so that it incorporates the most up-to-date information

    @javieraviles Cool! thanks. Curious where you get the data and how it is processed!

    info from worldometers, scrapping the html each 10 min, then caching to respond quickly and JSON format so its easy to integrate anywhere

    @javieraviles Thanks. I've add https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ as a potential data source.

    Hi YY - thanks for starting this. Qq, is the design idea that users use your code to create their own datasets - or are you planning to commit daily updates to the csv ?

    side note - is anyone else having issues running the makefile?
    false alarm - snakemake seems to be fine now from 110d1f3

    https://github.com/covid19-data/covid19-data/pull/27/files - I've created a Wikipedia table crawler. Only tested for USA currently, but in principle this should work with all tables with the same template. e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:2019%E2%80%9320_coronavirus_pandemic_data/United_States_medical_cases_chart

    Hi all
    how to get more exposure to crowdbased efforts to collect data?
    YY Ahn
    @yy
    @benjyz good question! I don't think there is an easy answer. Make major news media or celebrities talk about it? ;)

    Tomas might be good to reach out to if possible, he has wide reach with his articles https://twitter.com/tomaspueyo
    am working on s3 upload, might be better than github as data repo https://github.com/benjyz/cvirus/blob/master/upload_s3.py

    @benjyz yeah sounds good to me. S3 would be nice but it will cost right?

    @benjyz
    yes. for small datasets github should be ok
